Position Description
Application Support Engineer
Position Summary:
The Application
Support Engineer is responsible for the overall performance, delivery, and
evolution of Applications and Services. The ideal candidate will have software
engineering expertise with a passion for DevOps, an unrelenting drive to
improve, and a willingness to challenge the status quo. This role reports to
the Applications Services Lead.
Responsibilities:
Implement and
administer software products, applications, and services
Provide technical
guidance and solutions
Create project
plans and execute against them on deliverables
Participate in
standups and weekly reviews to provide the status of deliverables
Provide
high-quality technical support for applications, and services, which meets service level commitments
Take ownership of
customer issues and see problems through to resolution
Determine root
cause of issues and strive to eliminate recurrence of problems
Detect events,
investigate, and determine the correct action from various monitors
Restore normal
service operation as quickly as possible and minimize impact to business
operations
Align services to changing business needs by
identifying and implementing improvements
Build automation
and process enhancements to improve service and reduce manual interventions
Build metrics and
dashboards to understand performance, usage and issues
Maintain, enhance
and revise knowledge artifacts
Able to
multi-task and manage multiple demands and projects within deadlines
Skills
/ experience:
At least 5 years
of enterprise applications and services support experience
Software
engineering expertise with a focus on, and experience in, DevOps
Strong
communication and customer interaction skills.
Experience and
knowledge of scripting languages
Strong analytical
and troubleshooting skills
Understanding of
Windows / Linux based platforms and hands-on experience with monitoring tools
Experience with
MS Azure and Azure Automation, specifically with managing applications and
Infrastructure as a service
