The Mass General Brigham Board and System-wide Executive Leadership Team have made a multi-year substantial investment to build our core digital and data capabilities to support the achievement of our Mission to drive growth and innovation in inpatient, ambulatory, and digital care. Position Summary
The Data & Analytics Organization (DAO) is looking for a Cloud Data/DevOps Engineer who can utilize a wide array of modern codebase and cloud services to build solutions that are slated for continuous improvements in functionality, infrastructure, and operations.
S/he must be a skilled developer with extensive experience using Microsoft Azure, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks and SQL Server to perform complex data analysis, design and code complex stored procedures, and performance tune existing databases.
The role is a hands-on technical position to facilitate agile development of Enterprise Data Lake using CI/CD practices to run pipelines to manage and scale our growing data assets.
Understanding of complex data relationships and business requirements, as well as design principles, methodology and standards in delivery, monitoring and support is essential.
Central to the role will be managing the distribution and replication of data across many environments including between different RDBMS instances and into the Azure Cloud.
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, highly qualified individual who demonstrates great attention to detail, feels comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and can quickly get up to speed on a complex data infrastructure. The ability to successfully grasp new concepts to work with Big Data using cloud technologies is vital.
This position will report to the Data Lake manager while also working closely in an Agile environment with other developers, analysts, and research-based teams around the enterprise.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Design and implement data workflows ensuring proper database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures
Create and maintain automated solutions spanning the code management, build, package, deploy and delivery functions of DevOps.
Maintain and improve CI/CD and automated testing pipelines.
Successfully manage the day-to-day usage and provisioning of cloud and hybrid resources based on the project needs.
Move implementation through development phases, from project initialization to deployment, supporting.
Update, deploy, and monitor systems developed by the team, passionately looking for opportunities to improve performance, reliability, and automation.
Identify, evaluate, recommend, and implement new tools and methodologies to optimize processes.
Create integration strategies and methods, which improve system performance, monitoring, and future scalability and high availability.
Diagnose and resolve database performance issues.
Interface with DAO leadership, managers and IT colleagues to describe the DevOps processes.
Work closely with the Data Lake leadership, Data Lake managers and IT colleagues to support corporate/functional business and information needs.
Follow processes to ensure HIPPA and institutional compliance in all aspects of the work.
Working Conditions
MGB has implemented special remote working policies due to COVID-19. These policies are subject to change; however, it is currently expected that this position will work remotely (e.g. from home) full time through October 2021. Potential for 100% remote work past October 2021 based on departmental needs.

5-10% travel outside of Boston may be required
Possible local travel to Mass General Brigham sites, vendors, and conferences
Normal office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in computer science or a healthcare related informatics field
7+ years of practical hands-on experience with the development and implementation of large-scale enterprise-level data warehousing and supporting business intelligence initiatives using enterprise-class RDBMS, preferably MS SQL Server, particularly focused in Star Schema Data Modelling
Experience with key DevOps technologies including Docker & OpenShift as well as DevOps experience in Azure, including Hybrid, Serverless, IaaS, Automation, and tools for CI/CD services.
Wide-ranging experience in deploying, debugging, and managing systems in cloud environments such as Azure
Strong experience with highly-scalable and distributed databases and the key issues affecting their performance and reliability
Experience in database design and programming, including mastery of complex queries and SQL optimization using advanced SQL programming skills
Knowledge of cloud foundation principles and standards; hands-on experience working with Microsoft Azure products & solutions is ideal
Experience understanding complex data warehousing performance management
Preferred experience working with data/Big Data for healthcare including genomics, imaging and EHR
Successful track record of delivering results on scope, on time, on budget
Thorough Security and Governance experience and skills
Knowledge of HIPPA and privacy regulations regarding patient data security and/or research related practices is a plus
Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required
Extensive Azure experience, including: Azure Data Factory, Event Hub, Azure VMs, Virtual Networks, Log Analytics, Azure Synapse, Azure Functions, Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, ARM Templates, Azure DevOps Pipelines.

Experience of C# .NET programming an advantage
Strong analytical skills; the ability to derive logic from data structures and source code

Able to work in a highly-collaborative team and provide valuable insight
Able to document requirements and complex data schemas
Excellent oral and written communication skills
