Summary
As part of the engineering team at Wantable, the cloud engineer will be responsible for providing highly available, secure services in a cloud environment. Activities include provisioning, configuring, deploying, maintaining, monitoring, and improving Wantable’s Heroku, AWS, DigitalOcean, and other cloud-based infrastructure used primarily for web hosting homegrown software. Additional responsibilities include providing front-line support and debugging issues, documenting the deployed solutions, investigation and recommendations on new services, and overall health of the cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities
- Deploy and monitor all homegrown applications
- Assist in the testing of new software
- Ensure the platform is highly available, cost-effective, performant, and secure
- Provide front line support of home grown software and hardware
- Develop and support CI/CD processes
- Provide thought leadership within information technology and across the organization
- Proactively identify low response time areas in the platform and propose solutions to other engineers
- Evaluate security risks and close holes where necessary
- Perform routine maintenance on databases and other systems
- 2+ years of experience in cloud platform/DevOps
- Professional experience as a software engineer or working closely with software engineers to manage infrastructure
- Experience with Unix and CLI as well as knowledge of HTTP, REST, and JSON
- Experience with Heroku/AWS at scale
- Understanding of SQL and improving SQL performance
- Strong organizational skills paired with the verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate and troubleshoot alongside all levels of an organization including technical teams, end-users, executives, etc
