The Cloud Engineer is responsible for a heterogenous environment of cloud and on-prem infrastructure consisting of Windows servers / VMs with a lift & shift move to Azure for IaaS / PaaS to include a CI/CD pipeline built with Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes (or AKS), and Ansible.

- Migrate on-prem infrastructure to Azure IaaS
- Set up a CI/CD pipeline to include Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes / AKS, and Ansible
- Possess an "automation first" mindset, with a relentless focus on quality, monitoring and reliability using Infrastructure as Code tools (Ansible).
- Collaborate across enterprise to define, prioritize, and ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of our services.
- Define and lead service capacity planning and demand forecasting meetings, with a focus on software performance analysis and system tuning.
- Identify underlying root causes to help solve complex problems relating to mission critical services and build automation to prevent incident recurrence, with the goal of automating response to all non-exceptional service conditions.
- Provide primary support for environment related issues that engage multiple engineering teams.
- Be an active contributor in retrospective meetings with Sr. leadership about technical RCA's and mitigation strategies.
- Responsible for monitoring the health of our environment and maintaining comprehensive documentation of our infrastructure and tools.
- Creating clear documentation, constantly keeping our organization as technology leaders and championing modern best practices are core functions of this role.
Qualifications / Education
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent experience and training
- Former infrastructure engineer capable of migrating on-prem IT to Azure for IaaS
- 3+ years of DevOps experience focused on Azure
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline build with Azure DevOps, Docker, and Kubernetes or Azure Kubernetes
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code / IaC (Ansible strongly preferred as that's what we are using, otherwise you must be willing to learn it).
- Experience in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, and/or bash.
- Knowledge of C#, .NET a plus. (We also do Azure SaaS)
- Experience digging through logs, etc. to triage and fix issues.
- Experience working with Jira.
- Enjoys being on the bleeding edge of technology and staying educated on the latest best practices and trends by proactively self-educating as well as training and mentoring others.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
