Job Description

Cloud Engineer (Level 2) is a senior information technology (IT) specialist responsible for platform engineering and technical design for the cloud and DevOps platforms. This role translates reference architecture and patterns into platform engineering solutions. The Cloud Engineer will work with Cloud/DevOps developers, Platform Delivery lead and Cloud architects to oversee platform design, standard & patterns implementation, and product releases. The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for automation of infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code and Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) principles. Assumes a lead role to guide efforts within the Cloud Center of Excellent team in regard to DevOps, server administration, monitoring, backup, networking, disaster recovery, storage, database, security center and other cloud service capabilities within Azure or multi-cloud solutions as required. The qualified candidate must have background in Infrastructure-as-Code, Azure DevOps, Terraform, Application Testing and Monitoring, PowerShell, Azure Functions, and Git. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Work closely with enterprise architects, product managers and Cloud/DevOps engineers to design and implement cloud platform automation solutions Critical skills here include Azure Cost Management, Infrastructure-as-Code, Terraform, Azure Policy, ARM, and Azure Monitor. The awareness of application architectures and ability to work with Application DevOps teams.
Partner with the Platform Architect(s) and Operational Delivery Lead on the prioritization of the product backlog, refining product roadmap, KPIs & releases.
Conduct and oversee design & code reviews, both for infrastructure and application code. The ability to translate code into application DevOps monitoring and work with application teams to onboard into the managed cloud environment.
Define platform software engineering standards and ensure compliance as well as monitor platform software quality and ways to improve it.
Work closely with stakeholders and engineering teams to on-board and self-service enable platform consumers.
Support platform operations, ensure platform stability, assist with incidents and maintain platform SLA's.
Design automation frameworks to support the platform products.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required Education: Bachelors in IT, Computer Science or related field or equivalent industry experience
5+ years DevOps / SRE or related experience, Ability to devise engineering solutions through critical examination of problem and collaboration with team members and customers (developers, architects, engineers),Solid cloud and infrastructure experience with a working understanding of cloud infrastructure components at IaaS, PaaS & CaaS abstraction layers, Highly skilled in automation languages (e.g. Golang/Rust, Python) and configuration management tools (e.g., ansible, chef, puppet, and Salt)
