GENERAL PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE:
A Cloud Engineer at Verimatrix helps us create and build on our large suite of security and content protection products. These products are used around the world to protect video content that is delivered via satellite, cable, and the internet. A successful engineer at Verimatrix works within a small team to design, build and deliver high-performing, scalable products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
· Put your AWS cloud skills into action by helping design and build a publicly deployed infrastructure
· Automate system build outs and the application deployment process.
· Work closely with development teams to help engineer scalable, reliable, and resilient software running in the cloud.
· Create and utilize tools to monitor our applications and services in the cloud including system health indicators, trend identification, and anomaly detection.
· Enhance monitoring of systems, services and hardware to proactively solve problems.
· Analyze and monitor performance bottlenecks and key metrics in order to optimize software and system performance.
· Champion quality, security, and best deployment practices
· Work across teams without barriers of why things cannot be done and help us constantly move forward
· Bring your experience and insight to proactively suggest improvements to the products, processes, or internal tools
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
· 3-5+ years of cloud-based development and operations background.
· Understanding of one or more programming languages
· Understanding of Linux core fundamentals, command-line operations, and scripting
· Experience with Docker cluster and associated management tools
· Experience with CI/CD technologies
· Working knowledge of application monitoring and alerting techniques
· Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
· Understand scalability challenges and performance of server-side code
· Able to design secure distributed systems and assure operational processes around security
· Attention to detail, responsiveness, commitment to efficiency and automation!
· Great communication skills (verbal, written)
Experience with any of the following would be a plus:
· git and github
· Java, TypeScript, or Python
· Build automation tools auch as Gradle
· Monitoring and alerting technologies such as Prometheus/Icinga
· CI/CD technologies such as Codefresh and/or AWS CDK/CloudFormation
· Experience with AWS, specifically S3, VPC, Route 53, Kinesis, ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB
· Security protocols, cryptography, PKI, SSL/TLS
TRAVEL: up to 10% if required by the organization for business needs – overnight traveling within USA as well internationally
