We are seeking a junior to mid-level System Administrator to support a large enterprise IT contract for the DOD.
This role requires an individual that has technical experience with administering Linux and Windows servers within a VMware virtual environment. This individual should be detail oriented in order to capture customer inquiries appropriately. This role is responsible for interacting with other administrators to handle service inquiries and problems. Duties include examining customer problems and suggesting and implementing appropriate corrective action to initiate a repair or return to service. This role analyzes recurring problems and initiates solutions for preventing reoccurrence and analyzes existing infrastructure for tuning/performance enhancements. The individual will provide systems and software operations and maintenance support in a large, multi-enclave enterprise environment. This individual will work in a team environment to ensure mission needs are met and ensure functionality of capabilities of customers. Primary Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise and support in the use of DBMS.
- Define file organization, indexing methods, and security procedures for specific user applications.
- Create and maintain database objects such as tables, views, index, constraints for data platform and custom applications.
- Develop, implement, and maintain database backup and recovery procedures for the processing environments, and ensures that data integrity, security, and recoverability are built into the DBMS applications.
- Creatie views to drive front-end data and reporting
- Configure and deploy PostgreSQL extensions
- Drive end-to-end availability, performance monitoring, and capacity planning for PostgreSQL, using native and 3rd party tools.
- Design and develop logical and physical database designs from application requirements.
- Design and implement automation using scripts and database functions.
- Design and implement replication and backups for mission critical/tier-1 applications.
- Design and implement automation using scripts, must be proficient in scripting.
- Creating stored procedures for application programming interfaces (APIs)
- Responding to user reported errors in a timely manner
- Monitoring systems performance and identifying problems that may arise
- Liaising with database programmers and IT project managers
- Ensuring proper back up of database is adequate and able to be recovered in the event of memory loss
- Recommending changes and enhancements for database protection
- Protecting the database from threats and unauthorized access in cloud
- Maintaining an awareness of trends and developments in database administration
- At least 5 years of experience in administering on-prem/cloud based multiuser environment with expertise in planning, designing, building, and implementing complex database systems.
- Experience with AWS RDS for PostgreSQL
- In depth knowledge of the EDB PostgreSQL DB architecture.
- AWS cloud base Postgres database administration experience.
- Familiar with open-source such as pgAdmin and pgModeler
- Experience with data modeling
- Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL)
- Possess analytic problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of computer software applications, including database technologies and programming languages
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent:
- 12 Years of job related experience and High School/GED diploma
- 10 Years of job related experience and Associates degree

- 4 Years of job related experience and Doctorate
- Experience working in Agile, SAFe, and Scrum environments.
- Active TS/SCI Clearance with Poly (US Citizenship required)
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field of study
- Experience implementing and deploying databases in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Experience with graph databases, such as Neo4j, Amazon Neptune, or JanusGraph
- AWS Certified Solutions Database - Specialty
- AWS Certified Solutions Data Analytics - Specialty
- Driven end-to-end availability, performance monitoring, and capacity planning for PostgreSQL, using native and 3rd party tools.
- Implemented automated methods and industry best practices for consistent installation and configuration of EDB PostgreSQL for production, pre-production and non-production environments.
- Administrated PostgreSQL databases throughout the non-production (Sandbox, development, test, UAT, Training), pre-production (Staging) and production lifecycles in an AWS environment.
- Experienced with optimizing database performance through exhaustive pro-active testing and ongoing real-time monitoring.
- Experienced in scripting and database functions.
- Experience in testing database security and enterprise policy guidelines according to established best practices.
- Monitored and maintained the backups for database recoverability for all production databases.
- Experience working in the database domain with at least four (4) years of experience managing all operations of RDBMS databases such as Oracle/SQL Server/DB2 with a minimum of two (2) years of EDB PostgreSQL DB.
- Experience with AGILE / DEVOPS a plus.
