ARA’s Capital Area Division in Alexandria, VA is seeking a DevOps Engineer to aid in developing advanced cloud-enabled analysis infrastructure and software for DHS applications. Candidate will have a strong passion and background in making quality cloud-based infrastructure and production software at all stages of the development lifecycle. As a valued contributor to our development team your responsibilities will include (1) collaborative brainstorming and problem solving to define requirements, objectives and potential solutions, (2) developing and testing infrastructure and software from inception to deployment in the homeland security community, and (3) maturing and improving infrastructure and software with new ideas and customer feedback as part of an agile team.

You will be responsible for developing and integrating cloud-enabled applications and services that will be deployed in a federal government environment. Additionally, you will work to integrate analysis and visualization

capabilities into this cloud platform and build web-based GUI applications to manage project information and enable information sharing.

Required Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in DevOps and software development in a modern cloud environment
  • Demonstrated ability to write efficient, structured code in multiple languages, including but not limited to Java, Python and JavaScript
  • Experience with DevOps, such as developing, deploying, and managing Infrastructure and Configuration using automation (e.g. Terraform and Ansible)
  • Experience with distributed code management (e.g. GIT), and continuous integration/continuous development (CI/CD) tools (e.g. Jenkins, Travis CI, or CircleCI)
  • BS in Computer Science or similar degree with 5-7 years of relevant work experience, or MS with 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance and a DHS Suitability
Desired Qualifications:
  • BS in Computer Science or similar degree with 7-9 years of relevant work experience, or MS with 5-7 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with containerized environments and tools, including Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and information assurance/information security activities (e.g. server hardening security control implementation)
  • Interest in data science, data analysis, data visualization, and mathematical algorithms
  • Experience with web-based software development and visualization, including familiarity with HTML5, Javascript, and web frameworks such as Angular, Jquery, and D3.js
  • Experience with agile development and agile frameworks, such as scrum and kanban development processes.
