Candidates for DevOps Engineer should possess some automation skills and be able to utilize those skills to solve challenges in traditional IT infrastructure and operations. An automation mindset is key. The individual should be resourceful, independent, and be able to problem-solve. The DevOps Engine should be aware of current technologies and possess a thirst to learn and experiment. Knowledge of DevOps principles and a desire to champion best practices are important.

Responsibilities
  • Support development teams to implement strategies for increasing quality and velocity of change.
  • Identify, implement, and test better practices for the OCLC software release lifecycle.
  • Serve as a champion for DevOps principles across the organization.
  • Promote and implement pipeline orchestration for continuous delivery of applications.
  • Automate IT processes through programming and scripting.
  • Administer and maintain enterprise DevOps tools.
  • Participate in team efforts by contributing to implementation of DevOps projects, using agile software practices.
  • Support application transition from tradition infrastructure to containers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills with a variety of technical strengths.
  • Knowledge of software build practices from source code to binary artifacts and automation to execute builds.
  • Experience supporting software application deployment processes.
  • Demonstrates effective debugging skills.
  • General programming logic/structure knowledge.
  • Agile methodology experience.
  • Proven scripting/automation skills.
  • Knowledge of linux operating system and experience with system administration beneficial.
  • Continuous integration tools (e.g. Jenkins, Bamboo, Quickbuild), a plus.
  • Knowledge of container infrastructure design and implementation, a plus.
