Job Purpose
National Grid IT team is currently seeking an innovative, adaptable, and results-oriented individual to lead a team within our Solutions Engineering - DevOps Engineering area. This leader will be responsible for leading an organization of Solution Architects, DevOps Engineers, and Tool Engineers to implement DevOps solutions through the Systems Development Life Cycle and to drive adoption. This role will report to the Director of DevOps Engineering within the National Grid IT organization. The DevOps Engineering team is focused on transforming the way teams deliver solutions through automation, resulting in improved efficiency, quality, and security. You will manage the delivery of various IT Foundation investments including: DevSecOps, Data Ops, ML Ops, and Azure PaaS Services, while increasing digital delivery centric, best in class software engineering and DevOps practices. Ideal candidate must possess a broad base of DevOps skills and knowledge spanning digital technology, strategy, solutions engineering, and agile/lean development practices.

Key Accountabilities
- Define and maintain DevOps delivery roadmap and implement features via program increments, ensuring all development and releases are planned and executed
- Implement platform capabilities to support DevSecOps, Data Ops, ML Ops, and Azure PaaS Drive the adoption of DevSecOps, Data Ops, ML Ops, Azure PaaS, and other capabilities
- Ensure DevOps Tools Platform meets security standards
- Manage installation, configuration, validation, and proactive monitoring of DevOps capabilities and tools
- Identify, compare and recommend technical options for the DevOps Tools Platform
- Work with Commercial, EA, Security, I & O and Strategy & Innovation to ensure holistic solution meets IT strategy and standards
- Lead creation of Program Epics, Features, and User stories for functional and non-functional requirements
- Prepare appropriate System Designs, System Test Plans, & Deployment Plans
- Create and track WBS schedule for Solution Development tasks
- Work with Enterprise Architecture team to ensure architecture aligns with business objectives & IT Strategy
- Accountable for Unit Testing, System Testing, Integration Testing
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with credibility and gravitas to influence and lead thought at the senior level
- Responsible for appropriate resourcing strategy and planning for the development teams
- Hire and manage technical resources aligned with resourcing strategy
- Performance Management, Objective Setting, Career Development, & coaching for all internal staff
- Manage a team of Solution Architects, DevOps Engineers, Tools Engineers, and Scrum Masters to maintain DevOps tools platform and implement DevOps solutions through the SDLC - requirements, design, testing, deployment, & post go-live support
- Ability to promote and role model a team-oriented environment
- Ability to lead technology teams in different locations in US and other countries (e.g. India)
- Highly developed negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills
- Bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering or in related field
- Experience leading a DevOps Team maintaining a DevOps Platform and delivering DevOps solutions within a large-scale IT environment
- Experience delivering CI/CD solutions that significantly improve the way development teams deliver software
- Experience with DevOps capabilities and tools, such as, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Sonarqube, Artifactory, Checkmarx, Ansible Tower, Selenium, and Neoload to support digital transformation
- Experience implementing security best practices and governance for DevOps
- Experience operating and maintaining a DevOps Platform within Azure
- 10+ years of experience working in the technology industry with 3+ years in leadership role
- Experience leading IT teams as part of a large multi-year, business-critical technology program
- Understanding of industry trends for DevOps
- Understanding of coding best practices
- Knowledge of Agile software delivery models (Spotify, Kanban, Scrum, etc.)
