The market for solar is experiencing both explosive growth and intense competition. The Digital team is seeking an experienced multi-disciplinary Engineer and leader who will be responsible for end-to-end management of Development operations in support of the SunPower Digital development teams.
This role wears many hats and the right candidate will be able to move fluidly between a variety of tasks including building and managing our DevOps technology stack, building an automation strategy, managing release activities from end to end, securing our pipeline and code, and managing to the outcome and efficiency targets.
This Director will lead the DevOps team, comprised of engineers who are passionate about development efficiency, environment uptime, tool/automation reliability, and the overall performance of our applications and infrastructure. This team supports development operations throughout the week, in a roughly 20x5 schedule. The DevOps Director will own sandbox reliability, infrastructure capacity, environment monitoring, and automated deployment of code for all of SunPower’s customer-facing platforms. This is a critical role that requires a high degree of technical mastery to ensure the quality of our customer experience. This role requires collaboration with multiple internal development teams, external vendor/service providers, and IT/Digital leadership. The Director will be a leader within the SunPower Digital team. The Digital team is developing industry-leading solutions for partners and customers, alike. This is a highly technical, hands-on role which requires the candidate to be a strategic leader, a collaborative team member, as well as a technically skilled contributor. This team is committed to delivering processes and tools that provide the highest systems uptime and operations transparency.

Responsibilities
- Provide solutions using DevOps philosophy to solve automation problems and manage the infrastructure.
- Build dashboards to communicate project statuses and various platforms or system health. This role requires data-driven decisions based on analysis, stats, and metrics
- Develop high-level design interaction diagrams, system functionality changes, data models, data flows, and high-level interface specifications
- Continuously improve our infrastructure to be easy to deploy, scalable, secure and fault-tolerant.
- Drive the process in which our DevOps team operates and iterates/releases
- Manage capacity planning, tuning systems stability, provisioning, performance and scaling of the application infrastructure
- Create and implement a strategy to ensure we meet uptime and performance SLA's
- Evolve infrastructure deployment strategies and testing to support our goal of 99.9% up-time and increasing frequency of development/deployment cycle
- Manage Team Leads and Engineers in multiple locations/time zones
- Release Management – Lead scrum teams to ensure releases are safe to deploy and auditable for process adherence. Act as the final gatekeeper for all changes going out to customer environments
- Lead evidence gathering and presentation for quarterly/annual IT General Controls and SOX audits
- Manage a team of DevOps Engineers who support development in multiple platforms, including Salesforce/Apex, Oracle Fusion/OIC, Ruby on Rails, Java, Python, and other platforms and languages
- Work with the latest monitoring tools and triage network, server and database issues
- Manage vendor relationships and budgets for third-party services
- Help ensure information security best practices for all our hosting environments
- Demonstrated ability to solve time-sensitive and technically challenging problems
- Demonstrated success in driving a security-first and stability-first culture
- 8+ years of DevOps-related experience
- 3+ years of experience managing technical teams
- Rich Operations skills; build and release management, Continuous Integration tools and frameworks such as, Git, Ant, Maven, etc
- Good understanding of version control and git flow technique
- Familiarity with at least one configuration management tool: Puppet, Chef or Ansible
- Experience working in at least one public cloud, eg. AWS,GCP, or Azure
- Familiarity with Infrastructure As Code (IAC) tools like AWS cloud formation templates or Terraform
- Good understanding of orchestration/CI integration tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, etc.
- Good understanding of standard networking protocols (DNS, DHCP, LDAP, SMTP, ICMP, NTP)
- Ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner
- Good understanding of Python object programming a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Advanced degree preferred
- OR equivalent combination of education and years of related experience
