Aeris communications is looking for a Director of DevOps who will guide the organization with vision and execution to design, implement and deliver on Aeris DevOps strategy that includes Infrastructure as a Code, Deployment Orchestration, CB/CI/CD, Automation and Security. Aeris communications is looking for a Director of DevOps who will guide the organization with vision and execution to design, implement and deliver on Aeris DevOps strategy that includes Infrastructure as a Code, Deployment Orchestration, CB/CI/CD, Automation and Security. In this role you will be responsible for a team of engineers and will work hands on with the team in designing and implementing the Aeris DevOps strategy.
- Marshall an organization through DevOps initiatives partnering with Engineering and SRE
- Design, plan and execute on projects and deliverables
- Build and steer a diverse global team of DevOps engineers
- Research and recommend the latest open source tools, evolving cutting-edge technologies and industry techniques to achieve optimal results
- Design and implement automated deployment, operational and monitoring methodologies and capabilities for Aeris SaaS and Cloud Platform
- Participate in design reviews and contribute towards building scalable and extensible architectures
- Shephard Cloud, Software and Information Security initiatives
- Bachelor's degree in a Technical Discipline (CS, EE, Math, Physics, etc.) with 12+ years of overall experience in the IT industry
- Proven track of leading and driving projects, teams and initiatives
- Minimum 5 years of experience in building, managing and leading software and infrastructure support teams working across multiple regions and timezones
- Extensive experience in managing, motivating and developing talented Engineers
- 7+ years' experience working on deployment, automation, monitoring and operational aspects of Web Applications based on enterprise Java/J2EE environments
- Hands-on experience in development and deploying software in Public (GCP, AWS) and/or Private cloud environment
- Hands-on experience in Linux/Unix environment and scripting languages: Shell, Perl, Python
- Hands-on experience in deployment orchestration technologies like Docker Container, Rancher, Kubernetes, Kops, Helmchart
- Hands-on experience with Databases (SQL/NoSQL): Primarily Hadoop eco system, and some optional experience in Cassandra and Oracle
- Strong experience in setup and managing DevTest (Pre-Production) and Production environment
- Strong experience with Apache/Tomcat/JBoss based web applications and services (SOAP, REST, etc.)
- Strong experience in implementing continuous integration using Maven, Jenkins, Bamboo, etc.
- Strong experience in GIT and parallel development, branching strategies and methodologies
- Strong in writing deployment automation/orchestration scripts
- Experience in monitoring tools like Nagios and Munin
- Strong communications, analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to adapt to time critical deadlines and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
