Job Description

The Director of Promotions, Product & Technology is responsible for Product Management and Development of promotion capabilities that drive growth targets for T-Mobile. This includes driving: the vision, ideation, design, product roadmap, technical build, operational support of key product capabilities in an Agile driven environment. This role will lead creative application of our existing capabilities (leveraging in-house and 3rd party platforms) and build new capabilities to meet the needs of our customers and stakeholders and ensure our competitive positioning in the marketplace.

This is a dynamic role responsible for equal parts vision, strategy, leadership, technical solution delivery, coaching, and growth of an equally dynamic product and software development team. To achieve these results, you must display outstanding ability to establish strategic goals and success metrics, influence leaders across departments, and drive results through collaboration across organizations. You must create a healthy, positive, passionate, and inclusive culture.

This role requires deep understanding of customer (internal or external) needs and wants, as well as how our products influence and drive the core T-Mobile Company metrics. Success requires strong leadership skills, the ability to create data-driven insights, and superb collaboration skills. You will also be responsible for attracting, hiring, and retaining a high performing, full stack, team of Product Managers, Software Developers, architects, other members of technical staff, and Senior Managers/ Managers to support our products and platforms. You will lead internal and external teams of 100+ and manage budgets of $15M - $50M.

In this role, to be successful you will actively interface with customers and partners (both internal and external) and internalize feedback to define core customer value, channel your creative juices to create amazing technical innovation, define metrics of success, and ensure our growth and adoption targets are met, and help bring feedback back to the team to drive further refinement and innovation. Some of this will involve swimming in data and deriving insights. But most importantly, you will need to be a team player who works well within and cross team with a winning collaborative style, stellar work ethic and an attitude that integrates well into a very fast paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a high-performing DevOps team comprised of multiple scrum teams, Technical Product Managers and Architects to build, maintain, and operate the products/systems that establish eligibility, accuracy and fulfillment of the promotions.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with senior internal customers within and outside of technology organization. Intimately understand their business strategies, define product strategy, drive execution, and deliver results. This includes establishing product capability roadmaps and the delivery of new capabilities to energize growth and operational efficiency.
  • Serves as a key stakeholder in defining and driving the digital architecture for promotions platforms with a focus on technology, customer experience, quality, scale, security, compliance and resiliency.
  • Partner with business and technology peers on the process, tools and prioritization framework evolution to adapt to the growing business needs.
  • Define KPI's and metrics to measure Product and technical performance.
  • Provide review and guidance to Product Management team on product vision, strategy, roadmap, methods and frequency of customer research and feedback, ROI analysis / funding, including identification and remediation of possible gaps.
  • Develop and maintain culture, process, and consistent action for continuous improvement across T-Mobile teams. Drive innovation, thought leadership, improvement, and adoption of industry leading practices
  • Responsible for technical operations of software, 24/7 response, telemetry, overall health of products, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) operational functions.
  • Lead team through change, motivating and inspiring teams to do their best work, and develop the team's knowledge and ability to deliver on its mission.
  • Foster strong, collaborative relationships with customer and customer representative groups.
  • Gather regular feedback about direct report performance, relationships, etc. from skip level employees, Agile teams, customer teams and synthesizes the information into meaningful, actionable feedback for their direct report(s).

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of software product development leadership experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Product management.
  • 5+ years of experience leading complex customer engagements and effectively managing internal and external relationships.
  • Executive maturity with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven success in directing matrixed resources and delivering software, with Agile Scrum methodologies and other commonly used tools, across multiple teams.
  • Experience with testing, implementing, and supporting large scale and highly available services on Azure, AWS or similar environments including continuous Live Site monitoring and response
  • Software development experience with JAVA, Spring Boot, MySQL, APIGEE, PCF, Kubernetes, AWS is most relevant
  • Excellence in software engineering practices and coding
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or equivalent experience.
  • Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)
  • Highly skilled at driving process, governance model and implementation of strategic roadmaps in partnership with cross functional stakeholders.
  • Expert-level skills in organizational staffing and capacity planning to meet the forecast demands of the responsibilities outlined above.
  • Ability to define and solve complex problems, communicate to senior decision makers in a clear, compelling way, and drive decisive action in partnership with others in a large organization
  • Demonstrated strong people leadership skills with focus on developing people and creating positive, trusting relationships with other TPMs, engineers, customer business and technical staff, product engineering teams, and field teams.
