The AWS Practice Manager is a trusted advisor for our largest and most committed Financial Services customers. The role includes developing executive relationships, team development, delivery oversight, and program management. We're looking for an experienced leader to build a consulting team and lead large programs for our Financial Services customers. The leader will have a combination of Financial Services expertise, technical breadth, program delivery, and people development skills. They will develop executive relationships within their Financial Services accounts and have responsibility for financial management of their client engagements. They will own overall execution and delivery quality for projects under their control. They will be fast learners and effective coaches with experience mentoring a team of technical consultants. They will collaborate with an Enterprise Sales team to craft proposals and manage delivery of cloud adoption engagements. They will collaborate with AWS engineering teams to introduce and refine new platform web services for the large enterprises. Their team will harvest, package and publish best practices and repeatable offerings to AWS partners in each technical specialty to accelerate their transition to a cloud based IT model using AWS.
The AWS Practice Manager will lead a team of consultants to deliver cloud infrastructure solutions, design and deploy DevOps programs focused on CI/CD deployment pipelines, redesign and re-architect applications to take advantage of native cloud operations (agility, scale, etc), and deliver Big Data projects focused on structured (i.e. Oracle, SQL, MySQL) and unstructured (i.e. Hadoop, EMR) solutions. AWS consultants collaborate with customers and partners to address security and compliance, operational best practices, and change management policies focused on process and people.
Responsibilities include:
Deliver Value - Provide cloud advisory services working closely with senior leadership within Financial Services clients to understand industry challenges and develop solutions that drive business outcomes. Drive strategic direction of major transformation activities and manage the engagement via governance to ensure delivery. Develop technology strategy and future state architecture for the Financial Services clients in alignment with their business strategic plans. Manage delivery quality, project governance, project financials, and personnel staffing.
Manage Clients - Develop, maintain, and manage client relationships with key decision makers including the CIO/CTO-Directs, especially Chief Architect, etc. Serve as a futurist and a trusted advisor as it relates to rapidly evolving technology (and its business applicability) and industry market trends.
Build and Develop Great Teams - Attract top technical talent to build high performing teams of consultants with superior technical depth, and outstanding customer relationship skills, and a career focus on a specific technical specialty. Assemble and develop the very best in the world in each specialty.
Develop a Practice - Play a proactive role in developing market-leading sales collateral for building scale and awareness of technology strategy and architecture consulting capabilities. Lead or participate in developing presentations/white papers and articles for conferences / publications (internal and external). Help lead business development initiatives focused on technology architecture and strategy targeting CTO organization (EAs, Strategy, and Chief Architect) and create value propositions that are a win-win for clients
Develop Partnerships - Proactively develop industry solution maps for each technical specialty and engage the leading solution and service providers for each. Drive collaboration and integration between multiple partners to deliver comprehensive solutions for large enterprises.
Make New Markets - Develop the engagement model for driving the first design wins for the very newest platform web services, to open new market segments and clear the way for cloud-based IT using AWS in each technology area.
Be a Customer Advocate - Work with AWS engineering service teams to convey technical requirements from partners and customers as input to AWS technology roadmaps.
Be Innovative - Determine new ways of serving our customers by defining new service offerings. Write whitepapers and present at re:Invent with your customers.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum 10+ years of experience in Information Technology, specifically in a role of management or executive leadership
· Sales and delivery experience w/ global Fortune 500 Financial Services enterprise customers and partners
· Experience establishing comprehensive Enterprise customer relationships and collaboration across executive technology stakeholders
· Experience executing successful projects that show strategic results solving for business, product, and technical challenges and transformation to the cloud
· Consulting practice leadership experience as manager of managers; team size of 10-15 with related goals/KPI's
· Experience with change management challenges and solutions
· Experience with enterprise architecture successes including virtualization technologies & distributed architecture
· Experience using platform services in distributed environments with Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, HP, SAP etc.
· Delivery experience w/ Fortune 500 enterprise customers and partners
· BS level degree or equivalent experience required, computer science, business or math background preferred
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Spent at least 10 years working in the Financial Services industry as a consultant or part of a Professional Services organization. In depth knowledge of Capital Markets, Banking, Asset Management or Insurance is a requirement for this position.
· Visible IT Industry thought leadership on relevant topics related to cloud-based enterprise IT in the Financial Services industry
· Experience with design of modern, scalable delivery models for technology consulting services
· Business development experience including complex agreements w/ integrators and ISVs
· Familiarity with compliance & security standards including PCI DSS, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and NIST
· Advanced degrees in engineering and/or computer science
