Front End Developer
Position Description
This position will work within CGI's US Human-Centered Design (HCD) team to develop & prototype experiences, including digital products, UI components and pattern libraries to drive consistency across large-scale development teams in support of new feature development and enhancements.
As a seasoned consultant, you will work with sector VP's and Directors to identify and solve for unmet needs within their clients' organizations. You must be able to work with designers and product teams as a UI development leader by clearly communicating concepts and ideas.
Responsibilities:
• Work closely with clients, users and team members to develop compelling digital experiences
• Develop new user-facing features
• Build reusable code and libraries for future use
• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs with the design teams
• Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability
• Rapidly prototype concepts as part of a design-led team
• Assure that all user input is validated before submitting to back-end
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
• Involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards
Required Skills:
• Minimum 7-10 years of experience in UI development for web, mobile or other interactive media
• A current online portfolio that demonstrates a range of styles and interactive experiences, showcasing your ability to build and prototype digital products. Be prepared to guide a discussion through your approach to projects, design process, storytelling and your ability to bring ideas and concepts to life.
• Experience working on consulting engagements
• Excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong desire to move projects forward and be proactive
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, and to accommodate some amount of travel under tight timeframes
• Familiarity with Agile and how design engages with Agile development teams
• Advanced understanding of HTML5 including WCAG 2.1 compliance
• Advanced understanding of CSS3 and server-side pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS
• Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks
• Understanding of JavaScript libraries and frameworks, such as AngularJS, KnockoutJS, BackboneJS, ReactJS, DurandalJS etc.
• Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX
• Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image. Familiarity with tools such as Figma or Adobe XD are a plus
• Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git, Bitbucket, or Mercurial
• Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that application will adhere to them.
