Main responsibilities:
The GNC Software Engineer will have the following duties and responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Dynamic Positioning and Motion control software, configuration and commissioning tools, and simulators for the marine industry including autonomous vessels, offshore- and wind farm vessels, navy ships, cruise ships and mega yachts.
- Develop and maintain network software and communication protocols.
- Develop and maintain interfaces with hardware and peripheral systems (sensors, actuators, power systems, etc.)
- Setup and perform static and dynamic analysis scans of critical software components.
- Implement security measures.
- Support control system commissioning and field testing.
- Provide project documentation throughout the software development lifecycle.
Minimum Experience and Educational Requirements:
- BSCS, BSEE, BSME, BSAE or similar with strong CS skills.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience with C++ and object-oriented programming in Windows environment.
- Experience with Visual Studio and Azure DevOps.
- Experience with C# and WPF.
- Experience using Version Control Systems such as SVN, or Software Configuration Management.
- Experience with test-driven development.
- Experience with real-time control systems.
- Experience with scripting languages is a plus (Lua, Python).
- Experience with Modbus a plus (TCP and RTU).
- Highly motivated and able to work under minimal supervision.
- Must be well organized and able to multi-task and keep track of simultaneous on-going projects.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Must be able to pass a basic physical fitness test.
- Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time.
Travel:
- Domestic and international travel required for purposes such as on-site commissioning, troubleshooting and testing, attending meetings, field service support, conferences, training, or as required for job related duties.
