The Role
We're looking for an experienced Head of Software Engineering with strong system building skills to join our small and creative team. The ideal candidate is a seasoned, mature engineering leader who is experienced building high performing teams and developing staff. The ideal candidate prioritizes well, communicates clearly, and understands how to drive a high level of focus and excellence with engineering teams. Candidates must have a proven record of accomplishment of building a culture centered on customer focus, efficient execution, high quality, rigorous testing, deep monitoring, and solid deployment practices. Being a member of a small team means you'll have many responsibilities and own multiple projects. Ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced, creative and collaborative environment.
Plus, since you would be joining us early in our journey, you will be intimately involved in every aspect of the product with a significant say when it comes to technical decisions. You'll own projects from concept to completion and be working alongside talented software engineers in executing your projects.

What You'll Be Doing
- Be responsible for building and managing a world class engineering team (we expect to 3x our headcount by next year).
- Teach and mentor both individual contributors and managers to become the next set of leaders. As a senior member of an early stage startup, you will be looked to for guidance.
- Refine and execute against the product roadmap, deciding trade offs between business priorities and technical needs.
- Collaborate with the CEO and other stakeholders on technical strategy and supervise a team of stellar engineers.
- Lay the groundwork for Moesif's engineering and devops practices while creating a product-driven culture.
- Work with engineers, sales, marketing, and external customers to meet business goals and requirements.
- Several years of working experience in Node.js
- Have a strong technical background with 5+ years of experience in engineering leadership.
- Have served as the technical lead and defined a roadmap for complex projects.
- Measure your success by business goals, not lines of code.
- Strong project management skills and enjoys creating robust processes.
- Experience working with and selecting various technologies
- Care deeply about mentoring engineers. Senior engineers go to you for guidance.
- Strong REST API design skills thinking about backwards compatibility and customer experience.
- Familiar with good devops practices like CI/CD, site reliability, and security.
- Good REST API design skills and customer experience
- Wants to get their hands dirty and wear multiple hats (project management, writing technical specifications, etc)
- Enjoys taking an active role in interviewing and mentoring new employees
- Self-starter, self-motivated, able to work independently, strong entrepreneurial spirit
- Strong Javascript skills
- Experience with AWS services (EC2, EBS, RDS, Cloudwatch, Lambda)
- Experience working with Postgres (or any SQL database)
- Experience with building RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
- Natural ability to diagnose and debug complex technical issues
