Responsibilities

The IT Deployment Manager is a hands-on leader who will provide technical expertise and personnel management over several teams of the ITOPS program consisting of engineers, DevOps and automation engineers, and others. The IT Deployment manager will serve as a working Deployment and Release Manager in addition to leadership duties.
  • Provide excellent customer service, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Work with a cross-functional, multi-vendor team to manage application performance, custom reporting infrastructure, and recurring client deliverables keeping in mind the goal of data center modernization and optimization
  • Work closely with Data Center Leads and other program staff such as Change and Configuration Managers, Enterprise Test lead, and Business and Service Continuity Manager across the program at multiple sites
  • Interface with other project team leads (development, testing, requirements, analytics) to share information, provide technical guidance, and other project-wide leadership tasks
  • Interface with network operations center staff for deployment/maintenance of servers, storage, and networking equipment
  • Assist the development team in managing custom software releases and deployment via DevOps methodology
  • Involved in new hire training, employee skill development and ongoing coaching for each Operations team member
  • Manage Decommisioning/Deprovisioning of any applications as required
  • Responsible for deploying and maintaining a highly-available production environment with aggressive uptime goals
  • Responsible for deploying and maintaining multiple development/testing environments
  • Manage operating system patch deployment, database patch deployment
  • Manage and improve a library of task automation scripting (shell, perl, etc.)
  • Identify problematic areas and implement strategic technical and process solutions
  • Evaluate COTS, PaaS, SaaS and Open-Source software to fulfill business needs
  • Define metrics to ensure continuous improvements in process and efficiency
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports to internal and external stakeholders
  • Write and maintain technical documentation using the MS Office Suite, SharePoint, Visio, and Wiki tools
  • Use ServiceNow for helpdesk ticket management and reporting
  • Use JIRA for project management and task management
  • Use MS Project for project planning and management
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in IT, preferred 5 + in IT Deployment
  • 5+ years’ experience in technical personnel management.
  • Serve as escalation point for Operations staff for critical issues
  • A successful candidate will have exceptional I.T. customer service skills and technical skills
  • Experience providing support to non-technical end users as well as highly-technical development and engineering staff.
  • Good understanding of managing and monitoring Service Level Agreements with customers and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated experience managing strong customer relationships and operations.
  • Exceptional analytical and process development skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple issues at one time with exceptional follow through.
  • Proven ability to learn custom application environments
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting Web based applications
  • Relevant technical experience (certifications preferred)
  • Unix/Linux administration (Solaris/RedHat)
  • Oracle Database Administration
  • Experience with ITIL, SDLC, Agile, and DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience with continuous integration tools like Jenkins
  • Experience with administering version control systems like GIT
  • Experience with performing performance optimization to meet performance goals
  • Experience with performance monitoring tools like New Relic, Dynatrace, etc
  • Experience with mitigating vulnerabilities indicated in Security Audits / Penetration testing
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems; Masters degree preferred. Significant relevant professional experience may be substituted
  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience
  • Lean Agile or SAFe certification strongly preferred
Clearance:
  • Must be eligible to pass a Tier 4/ High Background Investigation
