Summary:

IS&S PMO students will be involved in various aspects of the Information Technology Project Execution at Allison Transmission, Inc. Key learning and development areas include IT Program Management / Project Management, SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) aspects of project execution, different methods of project execution like Waterfall, Agile, SAFe and exposure to working with business to understand requirements developing technical design / solution based on requirements and management of delivering the IT Projects. Student will work closely with their assigned supervisor and will manage execution of a specific IT project management during the assignment. Students will be required to commit to a minimum of 10-weeks per assignment.

Responsibilities:
  • Get exposure to end-to-end management of an IT project of varying complexity by managing Scope, Cost, Schedule and Quality
  • Gain knowledge in Management of Projects with different complexity in a highly matrix organization under the guidance of an assigned Program Manager
  • Gain knowledge in Vendor management in a highly outsourced environment
  • Gain Exposure to PMO Financial Management (CapEx/OPEx) at Project and/or Program level
  • Gain Exposure to different IT Project Management techniques and learn to use IT PMO tools set - Azure DevOps, SharePoint, Project Server etc.,
  • Participate in Steering Committee meetings to gain exposure to executive level status reporting and stakeholder management
  • Contribute to managing a specific work-stream in an Agile Project
  • Gain Exposure to managing projects aligned to ERP/SAP, Manufacturing, Engineering, IT Infrastructure, User Productivity Tooling etc.,
  • Interface with business teams, implementation partners and other IS&S departments for driving the project execution
  • Present project results to management staff along with technical analysis of activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement:
  • College undergraduate or graduate status with 1-3 years at an accredited college or university, pursing a degree in Information Management Systems, Computer Science, Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or related field
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Required:

  • No experience requirement – current enrollment in a 4-year engineering program
  • Strong desire to learn about IT Program / Project Management and ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate well in a business setting and across functional areas
  • Basic logical aptitude
  • Proficiency with computer operation, including Microsoft Office tools
