ACS Solutions has an immediate need for a Junior Developer with experience in the IT Industry. This is a 6 monthly contract opportunity. Our client is a leading IT company.

Project Scope and Brief Description:

• Creation and Maintenance of scientific computation libraries
• Support of Cloud and On-Prem High-Performance Computing Environments
• Application Suite, Batch, Run and Maintain.

Responsibilities:

• The primary responsibility will be to take on maintenance of scientific libraries written in C++. The candidate would also work with a scientist as a co-developer on new optimized version of an existing scientific library that will be used in applications (client and batch – C#, Python etc.).
• The candidate will create/maintain C# applications/webservice/batch processes as part of team responsibilities/portfolio in the Breeding Analytics space (both new development and run and maintain).
• The candidate will take on support of the on-prem high performance computing environment (Python, C++ Linux/Unix) and possibly the cloud-based batch environment as well (Python, Docker, Octopus Deploy etc.)
• We are always looking to improve on our systems/process as we scale-up and so we will be looking for a candidate that can provide feedback and insights on existing systems and ways of improving them.

Skills / Experience:

• Proficient in C/C++ and C# (in addition Python skills would be good to have but are not required) working in Linux/Unix and Windows environments.
• Have a solid knowledge of common software design patterns and engineering practices.
• Experience with unit testing
• Working knowledge of relational databases and the ability to write SQL statements.
• Experience with Git or other distributed version control system (DVCS).
• Proven ability to learn and apply new technologies, programming techniques and languages.
• Ability to work independently and/or within groups.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and a desire to use them in a team environment.

The target compensation for this role is between $30. 00- $35.00 per hour. Actual compensation may vary, depending on an individual’s experience, qualifications, and location.

• Support the enterprise solutions development, specifically related to state government application development projects
• Assist in the design, development and support of applications using current and new development technologies
• Make an immediate business impact with development projects
• Fulfill information requests on a day-to-day basis through software development
• Use code configuration management associated with software development efforts
• Learn the software development process and life cycle of a feature request
• Assisting existing staff in SQL development
• Assist in the development and testing of multiple projects, and document changes to projects while gaining an understanding of the software development lifecycle
• Create knowledge-based content Primary development duties
• Coordinating the most complex software development issues that arise in production environments
• Provide accurate estimates of development tasks
• Lead a technical discussion at times
• Help the development team continuously innovate and incrementally deliver system functionality
• Do QA automation and development for a new scrum team at Altec
• Augment the existing development team for the company's web-based and desktop software products
• Learn the conventions and coding style of CampSite and assist in the development of new functionality
• Work closely with a tight-knit team of experienced engineers to build the back-end development of suite of digital properties and tools
• Gain specific application and technology knowledge to participate in and contribute to the specification and design development process
• Understand the integrity of development models including the enforcement of standards, policies and system stewardship principles
• Seek a junior analyst/developer (0 to 3 years' experience) for a full time career position to assist in the management and development of a portfolio
