Working from an office in Columbia, MD or a home-based position, the Manager of Curriculum Development is responsible for managing and supporting the development of curriculum in various disciplines for grades K-12. Reporting to the Vice President of Curriculum, the Manager supports and oversees the curriculum developers responsible for writing, reviewing, and revising curriculum and assessments to improve accuracy, alignment, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

Manage a team of curriculum developers, enable career growth and professional development for direct reports, foster a culture of inclusivity and empowerment among team members

Communicate effectively with curriculum development management, product development cross-functional agile team members, and members of product management

Contribute to the refinement and prioritization of curriculum development features to include definition and validation of proof of concept, validation and analysis of feedback on MVP, and identification and definition of strategic partner needs

Consult with and support teachers in the creation and implementation of curriculum

Direct internal and vendor content development teams responsible for the full array of content development in support of creating, testing, and implementing new frameworks through content. Plan, organize, and align resources and people to ensure successful project execution

Demonstrate knowledge of state and national curriculum and NSQ standards

Manage course development, which consists of course maps, learning objectives, learning objects, and activities to meet specific state and/or national standards

Demonstrate depth and/ or breadth of expertise in own specialized field and provides expertise to various stakeholders

Has knowledge of best practices within own area of specialty and how it integrates with related areas of the business

Direct the resolution of complex content area problems by applying advanced analytical thought and judgment

Assist in strategic decisions that impact the business and help to influence decisions of senior leaders

Has a measurable long-term impact on the results of content (course) performance and how it influences learner outcomes

Identifies change initiatives for OBL curriculum and formulates strategies for effective change implementation across the organization and partner schools

Establish and maintain internal and external relationships conducive to achieving department and company objectives.

Work with third party content providers to ensure quality integration of assets into Pearson's learning platforms

Coach and manage both internal and external teams to aggressive and hard deadlines

Minimize exposure and risk on project portfolio, including development of contingency plans.

Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree required; degree in education, curriculum, or similar area preferred

Minimum of 1-3 years of teaching experience required, with virtual learning preferred

Minimum of 3-5 years of curriculum development experience required, with curriculum to support asynchronous virtual learning preferred

Proven ability to lead a team, create a supportive work climate, and deliver results as a team

Proven track record of meeting deadlines while producing highly accurate, accountable work; very detail-oriented; editing/proofreading/fact checking/ experience preferred

Proficient with education management systems, learning management systems, and/or content management systems

Proficient with Microsoft® Office, Azure DevOps, and ability to learn other software programs and technology platforms quickly

Must enjoy a challenging work environment that requires flexibility, self-direction, creativity, strong communication, and organizational skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
