About the Role:


Location: Atlanta, GA and/or East Coast U.S. preferred

At Tricentis we empower people to be their best selves and do their best work. As a Principal Architect (Kubernetes), you are the go-to expert for container orchestration technologies, microservice architecture, cloud-native development, and DevSecOps solutions for containerized applications. In this role, you will be partnering with business and technology leaders to provide clear direction for go-to-market strategies and product road maps with containerization technologies in a multi-cloud environment.

You will also collaborate with various principal engineers and development teams to provide hands-on guidance in the design, implementation, testing, and deployment of containerized applications both in green and brown fields. Lastly, you will work with Product Security and Cloud Operations to recommend DevSecOps guidelines, tooling (e.g., observability), and solutioning in multi-cloud and hybrid environments.

What You’ll Do:

Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Assist with the definition of a clear, consistent technology vision and roadmap
  • Strategize, Research, Recommend, Design, Architect and Lead the development and deployment of scalable containerized applications.
  • Embrace and evangelize DevOps culture and mindset in the team, automating everything and enabling continuous delivery of high quality and valuable features at a very fast pace.
  • Lead technical design sessions and document architectural artifacts aligned with business objectives; identify gaps between the current and desired end states.
  • Drive organizational change by effectively articulating the value of containerization standards and practices to technology and business partners.
  • Produce patterns and models that guide the development and implementation of business solutions across multiple projects, providing direction to technical teams during project delivery and ensuring implementations support technology and business roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with other technology architects to set long term strategies for containerized microservice architecture as part of an overall IT roadmap.
  • Collaborate with development teams and production support to resolve near-term domain-specific architectural issues and to remove architectural design debt.
  • Proactively review and recommend selection of third-party PaaS (e.g., ROSA vs EKS).
  • Assist with build vs buy decisions and how to break down the pros and cons of various options.
  • Craft guidance that helps delivery teams identify quality risk factors around container-related security and compliance.
  • Develop and guide data and analytic strategy, collaborating with other domain architects and socializing roadmaps with business and IT partners to ensure that they create both business value and opportunities to apply technical innovations to customer needs.
  • Mentor associate engineers, architects, and senior leadership alike. Inspire and lead senior technical individual contributors.
  • Stay up to date on initiatives (e.g., CNCF) across the industry and the enterprises to help leadership effectively prioritize.
  • Lead the establishment and maintenance of containerized microservice architecture models, standards, processes, and constraints across the organization.
  • Support multiple simultaneous strategic development initiatives, leading the development of next-generation data solutions that support business and IT strategies.
Qualifications

What You’ll Bring to Tricentis:
  • You have 7+ years demonstrating a high degree of proficiency in microservice development, 12-factor apps, cloud-native architecture, containerization, Docker, Kubernetes architecture, and CI/CD DevOps with Kubernetes.
  • Experience with managed Kubernetes (AKS, EKS, GKE, OpenShift) across multiple Cloud providers like AWS, Azure and GCP.
  • Experience with deploying, managing, and scaling Kubernetes clusters.
  • Hands on experience in Git-Ops continuous delivery tools and DevOps practices.
  • Experience designing multi-region and hybrid cloud solutions.
  • Experience breaking down the monolith (Spring) into containerized microservices (Spring Boot).
  • Strong focus on container security (image, network, pod security).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to develop effective presentations and proposals
  • Exposure to PCI DSS, GDPR, FedRAMP, ISO 27001, CIS Critical Security Controls, NIST frameworks is a plus
  • Advanced degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience.
Certifications
  • CNCF CKAD, CKA, and/or CKS is a plus.
