The Mobile Network Analysis and Performance team is responsible for Mobility network usage analytics, performance monitoring, and demand forecasting, driving AT&T's multibillion-dollar network capital plan to ensure the optimal allocation of investments. We utilize advanced analytics and leading-edge forecast modeling methods to provide network usage analytics, pricing and policy decision support, network usage forecasting and capacity planning, and network performance tracking.

Preferred locations are Atlanta, GA; Dallas, TX; or El Segundo, CA. Other locations may be considered.

Responsibilities:
In this position, you will assume ownership of data architecture, engineering, and operations activities associated with key database resources that fuel many critical and strategic activities across the company, including network demand forecasting, performance analysis and optimization, fraud detection, etc. Working closely with data scientists, product managers, network engineers, and senior leadership, you will design and maintain a state-of-the-art, Azure-based data infrastructure and ETL pipelines supporting data science and business intelligence initiatives.

Additionally:
  • Design and build large and complex data sets from various sources while accounting for issues of scalability, maintainability, redundancy, security, etc.
  • Implement and maintain Microsoft Azure IaaS and PaaS solutions, including major services related to compute, storage, network, and security.
  • Development of complex ETL/ELT pipelines using a diverse set of platforms (Databricks, Hadoop, Spark, HBase, Kafka, etc.) and tools (Azure Data Factory, NiFi, Airflow, DataStage, etc.), and languages (advanced SQL, Python, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Azure environment performance issues, connectivity issues, security issues, etc.
Education:
Ph.D. or master’s degree from an accredited university in a relevant technical field, including but not exclusive to: Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Operations Research, Mathematics, etc.,

The background of the successful candidate includes:
  • 5+ years' hands-on experience in data/information architecture and data warehouse design (ideally using CASE tools, such as ERwin) within hybrid environments (e.g., RDBMS/NoSQL; on-prem/cloud) and databases (especially Snowflake, Vertica, Teradata).
  • Prior experience in the design, development, and migration of on-prem databases and applications to a public cloud platform, utilizing IaaS, PaaS, Databricks, Linux VMs, etc.
  • Accomplished programmer with deep expertise in at least one OO language and related aspects of software design and implementation.
  • Ability to write complex and efficient SQL queries utilizing parametrization and optimization.
This experience would be a GREAT benefit:
  • Expertise with standard development and deployment workflows/tools (DevOps) like CI/CD, GIT, Docker, Jenkins.
  • Experience with a wide variety of data/analytic software languages/tools/frameworks: data science lifecycle, machine learning, software engineering/architecture, etc.
  • Familiarity with emerging database technologies such as graph databases, semantic integration, enterprise knowledge graphs, etc.
  • Familiarity with the AT&T wireless network infrastructure and the wireless industry in general.
