The Digital Technology and Innovation group supports the Corporate Strategy, Digital Platform & Innovation Business. Together they work closely to continue evolving Wells Fargo’s digital platforms and enhance integration of the innovation pipeline into our customer-facing capabilities.
The Commercial Banking Digital team within DTI is responsible for delivering world class digital products that serve our commercial and corporate customers financial needs. We are seeking a talented Principal Engineer to accelerate our digital transformation for our Commercial Electronic Office (CEO) platform that provides web and mobile access to a wide array of business services. In this role you will have elevated visibility to senior Technology Leaders within DTI and across Wells Fargo Technology.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Drive the implementation of complex software initiatives and enhancements across organizations while minimizing risk to end customers
• Collaborate with engineering and stakeholder teams to define the technology strategy and digitally transform and modernize our applications from monolith into microservices and microfrontends
• Acts as an expert technical resource for APIs, gateways, microservices, cloud technologies, service mesh, application security, observability and domain driven design
• Create designs and technical specifications by analyzing highly complex business requirements while balancing performance, scalability, availability and cost-effectiveness
• Lead development and problem resolution with a hands-on quality mindset rooted in engineering best practices
• Work collaboratively in an Agile manner with Engineers, Product Owners, Application Architects and business functional leaders
• Demonstrate strong initiative and follow through in executing project responsibilities, overcoming obstacles, and balancing multiple priorities effectively
• Perform code reviews to ensure requested functionality is implemented to meet both functional and non-functional requirements
• Participate in troubleshooting of customer issues and production incidents
• Understand technology trends and bring innovative ideas forward to improve and evolve our products and platforms
• Provide training and guidance to less experienced developers

Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of engineering experience; or 10+ years of experience in a technical management role
- 7 + years of Core Java experience
- 7+ years of J2EE experience
- 7+ years of experience with Spring, Spring Batch, and Spring Boot
- 5+ years of experience in microservices development
- 7+ years of RESTful API development experience
- 5+ years of API Gateway experience
- 5+ years of private or public cloud experience such as PCF, OpenShift, GCP, AWS, or Azure

- A Masters degree or higher in computer science or finance
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience delivering complex enterprise wide information technology solutions
- Design consultation experience at the highest technical level: planning, integration, implementation, scalability, and problem definition
