Senior DevOps Engineer

What we're looking for:
You're a hands-on Senior DevOps Engineer ready to join the DCOE's DevOps team. Your primary responsibilities include infrastructure design and development of the DCOE's AWS platform. In addition, you'll provide insight to cross-functional colleagues (e.g. Architecture, Development, Product, UX, Security) about technical requirements and limitations encountered as development meets infrastructure.
What you will be doing:
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will provide technical support in a modern/cloud infrastructure; where automation, IaaS, security, and resiliency are paramount. The responsibilities include supporting all aspects of the customer facing/production infrastructure as well as Development, QA, and Staging environments. In addition to the basics listed above, this also includes monitoring/alerting, vulnerability management and patching, automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), mentorship, and representing/working with other departments to ensure we're supporting the business in a scalable manner to support the growing customer base. We love innovation, and support efforts that provide automated systems for the purpose of 99.99% uptime.

- Building a world-class, consumer-focused caring platform that enables Hallmark's lines of business (LOB) across the enterprise (Crayola, Crown Media, Hallmark Global) to accelerate their direct-to-consumer product strategies
- Developing a Cloud-first, multi-tenant digital platform that provides capabilities and services, such as a unified Hallmark Profile, Product Recommendations, Global Payment services, etc.
- Building, securing and operating digital consumer products for Hallmark's LOBs
- Scaling development capabilities to build for Hallmark's future
What we're looking for:

- Work closely with other product, engineering and customer service teams to ensure services are available 24 x 7.
- Maintain a program of proactive systems administration using automation, including but not limited to a system of updates, patches/fixes, system enhancements, log monitoring, and system hardening.
- Maintain a disaster recovery plan for all systems to include both a regular backup schedule and tested process for recovery.
- Create processes that enhance operational workflow and provide positive employee/customer impact.
- Utilize strong problem solving & troubleshooting skills including ability to perform root cause analysis for any lessons learned and failure patterns amenable to long-term solutions.
- Build automation and highly redundant systems to avoid phone calls after hours.
- Act as a technical point of escalation.
- Develop appropriate metrics to demonstrate performance and improve operational efficiency.
- Recognize and adopt best practices in documentation, testing, security, operational support at scale, and efficient use of resources.
- Must be able to support off-hours on-call.
- Work on small, cross-functional, fast paced teams.
- Utilize organizational skills and the ability to manage a diversified workload.
- Communicate & work effectively with all levels of staff including senior management.
- Work under minimal supervision on complex issues to deliver great results on schedule.
Required Qualifications:
- B.S. Degree in Computer Science or other related fields.
- 3+ yrs AWS experience.
- 1+ yrs enterprise infrastructure experience.
- Held a prior role with responsibility for high scalability/availability systems architecture, security, and systems support in a heterogeneous infrastructure environment.
- 1+ yrs experience with the following AWS Services: EC2, S3, VPC, Route 53, CloudWatch, AWS Auto Scaling, CloudFormation, CloudTrail, Systems Manager, IAM, Certificate Manager, Key Management Service, and Elastic Container Service or Elastic Kubernetes Service.
- 1+ yrs experience with GitLab.
- 1+ yrs experience with Terraform.
- 1+ yrs experience with CI/CD tools.
- 1+ yrs experience with Shell, Python, and AWS CLI.
- 1+ yrs experience with Infrastructure and APM monitoring tools.
- Experience and adherence to the 5 Pillars of the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
- Able to work between the times of 8am - 5pm Central time.
- Experience with the following AWS Services: CloudFormation, AWS Backup, DynamoDB, API Gateway, Lambda, RDS, ElastiCache, CloudFront, AWS Organizations, Resource Access Manager, Secrets Manager, AWS Single Sign-On, Elastic Container Registry, Service Catalog, Trusted Advisor, AWS Well-Architected Tool, Personal Health Dashboard, AWS Compute Optimizer, Amazon Grafana, Amazon Prometheus, GuardDuty, Inspector, Amazon Macie, Step Functions, AWS Cost Explorer, and AWS Budgets.
- Experience with Kubernetes.
- Experience with Atlantis (Terraform Pull Request Automation).
- Experience with GitLab CI/CD Pipelines.
- Experience with Golang.
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
- Experience with implementing disaster recovery, capacity planning, monitoring/alerting of availability/performance, and log aggregation and event management systems.
- Proficiency in TCP/IP networking architecture and other core network technologies (DNS, HTTP, Routing, Firewalls, Load Balancers, etc.).
- Familiar with both SQL and NoSQL technologies such as MySQL, MongoDB, Redis.
- Familiar with Agile processes and DevOps manifesto.
- Experience with DataDog and New Relic monitoring tools.
