Job Description
In this role, as a security automation engineer, you will drive development initiatives to create immediate ad hoc automation needs along with driving our long-term automation frameworks and later SOAR program. You will work with Security Engineering, SOC, Network team and DevOps teams to understand and prioritize automation opportunities, build automation into CI/CD pipelines, create internal tooling, and build tool integrations
Your Career:
This position is responsible for automation development in Palo Alto Networks’ (PANW) security infra for all enterprise, partner, and customer-facing services. A successful candidate for this role will have strong Technical and organization skills. You will work with a team of senior-level Network Engineers/cloud security/SOC engineers writing great quality software automation to create digital visibility and action-taking mechanisms for PANWs global network security infrastructure. We are seeking a software engineer with a passion for information security/networking and an aptitude for building scalable distributed systems.
Your Impact:
Designing and implementing the build, model, analyze and monitor the process for PANW’s current and next-generation networks.
Collaborate with network engineers to automate various processes, build a software infrastructure for network monitoring and analysis; provide data points for capacity planning and architecture change analysis.
Work with multi-vendor network devices and protocols.
Develop code to monitor network health, thresholds, and systems that proactively analyze and mitigate service disrupting network events.
Develop security test plans, procedures, automated test scripts, and tooling
Develop a test suite and related tooling to assist in regression testing for application security vulnerabilities
Work collaboratively with the DevOps team to plan, deploy, and run automated tests in test environments
Work with backend data systems to drive REST APIs and workflows across a variety of cloud and on-prem solutions
Translate analyst and researcher requirements and/or PoC scripts and tools into production-grade services, driving process automation
Support new and existing security systems and custom applications
Develop in-house automation tools for network scan analysis, audit, reports and more.
Qualifications
Your Experience:
Must have expert knowledge & 4+ years of experience working in Python/Go/Ruby/Terraform.
Minimum 4 years of experience in automation, software engineering, or similar role.
General understanding of cybersecurity standards, threat intelligence, and SOC/IR.
Prior experience in a multi/hybrid cloud environment AWS/GCP/Azure (especially GCP).
Advance knowledge of cloud firewalls
Advance knowledge of L7 firewalls technologies (PANW preferred).
Working knowledge of Networking ( LAN/WAN/VPN)
Basic understanding of dynamic routing protocols BGP, OSPF and ISIS.
Expert knowledge of Linux/Unix.
Working knowledge of DevOps tools & processes such as Github, Jenkins, Jfrog, Docker
Basic knowledge of docker/kubernetes technology, (Google Kubernetes Engine preferred).
Knowledge of MySQL/Postgres databases.
Preferred: Basic knowledge of javascript & other frontend frameworks
