Job Summary

As a IaC/DevOps Systems Engineer you will work closely with the Navy developing infrastructure as code and implementing systems administration best practices for sparsely connected or air-gapped environments. This includes hands-on involvement in building hypervisor platforms, Windows Active Directory domains, Kubernetes and containerized workloads, and ensuring Department of Defense (DoD) security policies and protocols.

Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions/Competencies

Key responsibilities for IaC/DevOps engineers
  • Participate in team sprint planning, stand-up, retrospective, and backlog grooming ceremonies
  • Ability to work with team members who are largely distributed and remote
  • Display strong skills in automated systems administration
  • Ability to design and architect new features and integration in a rapidly changing environment.
The following knowledge, technical skills, or attributes are required:
  • Ansible infrastructure as code development and automated testing
  • Engineering Windows Server 2016 and 2019 systems
  • Engineering of RedHat Enterprise Linux 7 and 8 systems
  • VMware vSphere automated provisioning and administration
  • VMware Software Defined Datacenter
  • VMware Horizon View
  • Jenkins and similar CI/CD Pipeline testing automation
  • Familiarity with Git version control
  • Familiarity with AWS EC2 and S3
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, OpenShift, Tanzu, other container solutions and platforms
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Jira, BitBucket, etc.
Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field required
  • A combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Work Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in configuring and managing infrastructure
The following knowledge, technical skills, or attributes are required:
  • Experience working within a DevOps environment
  • Technical background in DevOps, Software Engineering or Infrastructure Engineering
  • Experience with the full software delivery lifecycle and working in complex enterprise environments
  • Experience with VDI infrastructures
  • Proficiency in building and managing Linux and/or Windows Systems
  • Experience working with containers, IaaS, PaaS, and public cloud environments
  • Experience with CI/CD principles, practices, and tools
  • Experience with Infrastructure automation (Ansible, Terraform, Packer, etc..)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to comprehend and implement new technologies
  • Ability to context-switch between multiple projects, codebases, and concepts with ease
  • Ability and desire to bridge silos and bring different teams together while working towards a common goal
  • Familiarity with Git or other version control systems
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Secret Clearance
The following knowledge, technical skills, and attributes are preferred:
  • General understanding of DevOps principles and Agile Development processes
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, comfortable working directly with clients
  • High attention to detail and able to solve complex challenges
  • Experience with deployment automation and orchestration
  • Ability to mentor and teach developers and customers DevOps and Agile principles and best practices
  • VMWare VCF Design and best practices
