The Senior DevOps Engineer, located in or near Syracuse, New York, will build and enhance Thales’ hosting platform, compatible with public/private cloud solutions. Your mission will be to architect, design and implement scalable, redundant hosting platforms that will support the microservices applications of the development teams. By using open-source technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Linux, Terraform), the Senior DevOps Engineer will participate in the creation of a multi-cloud platform.

The ideal candidate will have real expertise in integrating open-source technology for the creation of "in-house" managed services, and have the ability to iterate quickly, understand the needs of development teams, and create a platform to meet their needs.

The Senior DevOps Engineer will work within an autonomous squad on applications for helping support the safe and efficient integration of drones into our airspace and our communities. Drone flight planning, drone tracking, sensor (radar, optical) and communication (4G/5G, CNPC, etc) integration, airspace capacity management & deconfliction, environmental impact and other such advanced functions will be developed, validated and put to work leveraging cutting edge technologies and intelligent algorithms. Your squad will contribute to the construction of a cloud-native, data-centric, API-driven, global aviation platform at the world’s leading airspace management company.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and improve the entire lifecycle of our services – from creation to deployment and operational support

Support the structuring of our CI/CD pipeline from the collection of needs to the deployment of new integrated tools

Manage infrastructure security, maintenance, and scalability

Lead initiatives to automate and make scalable our systems while improving their reliability and velocity

Respond to system inefficiencies and resolve issues quickly to ensure system availability and performance

Participate in technological choices and architectural evolution choices

Participate in the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of the team's development practices

Monitor and train in the most relevant technologies for our services

Required Skills and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with a minimum 8-12+ of years relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with 6+ years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

A minimum of 5 years of experience in a DevOps engineering role or significant achievements/contributions

Solid knowledge and mastery of open-source hosting technologies (Linux, Docker, Kubernetes)

Knowledge of the implementation of services (PostgreSQL, Kakfa, RabbitMQ, ELK, ...)

Minimum mastery of a public cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure, OVH)

Mastery of containerization technologies (Docker, Kata Containers) as well as an orchestrator (Swarm, Kubernetes)

Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix OS and shell scripting languages

State-of-the-art DevOps practice (Infra-As-Code, GIT, Continuous Deployment, Terraform, Ansible)

Knowledge and practice of agile development

Preferred Skills and Experience:

Experience implementing private cloud or on-premise Kubernetes cluster solutions

Environment:

Travel: Up to 25% travel annually
