Job Description

We're seeking a highly creative Senior Staff AWS DevOps Engineer to help drive the design, support, and enhancement the AWS cloud infrastructure for our award-winning cross channel marketing suite. This role will work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and IT stakeholders in an agile framework and provide opportunities to mentor junior DevOps staff. KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate with the development team to identify needs for infrastructure as well as building and deploying their applications 15%
  • Design and implement cloud infrastructure that is secure, scalable, and highly available on AWS 30%
  • System troubleshooting and problem resolution across various application domains and platforms 10%
  • Provision of critical system security by leveraging best practices and cloud security solutions 10%
  • Evaluation of new technology alternatives and vendor products 10%
  • Perform AWS infrastructure cost analysis and optimization 5%
  • Mentor team members in AWS DevOps best practices and support them in their work 10%
  • Take part in all scrum ceremonies 10%
Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical field
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Developer Associate preferred
EXPERIENCE
  • 5+ years of experience building and maintaining AWS infrastructure (VPC, EC2, Security Groups, IAM, ECS, CodeDeploy, CloudFront, S3)
  • Experience driving technical leadership and quality in a cloud DevOps team, including current and future architectures, best practices, cost management, tooling selection recommendations, vendor relations
  • Strong understanding of how to secure AWS environments and meet compliance requirements
  • Experience in Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment techniques, approaches, and tools, including experience with some of the following tools: Gitlab, Code Deploy, CircleCI
  • Containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Infrastructure provisioning (at least one of Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Application monitoring (ELK stack, New Relic, Datadog, etc.)
  • Experience supporting production grade systems including Linux administration, deployment, high availability & durability, practical logging & monitoring, and cost optimization in a public cloud, preferably AWS
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior technical and business stakeholders
  • Solid foundation of networking and Linux administration
  • Possesses a good understanding of the DevOps ‘marketplace’: Current vendors, their technologies and can articulate the key differences in their offerings
  • Issue and bug tracking and wiki documentation (JIRA, Confluence)
  • Software Delivery Lifecycle Process optimization
  • Source code systems and branching strategies
  • Ability to learn/use a wide variety of open-source technologies and tools
