The Opportunity

Adobe needs a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) who knows how to balance going fast and going big with operating safely. Our mission is to progress, protect, and provide for the software and systems behind all of Marketo: An Adobe Company, with an ever-watchful eye on system availability, latency, performance, and capacity. SRE is a mentality of engineering approaches which focuses on building highly reliable systems and eliminating toil through automation.

Our SRE and Engineering teams are distributed worldwide. We rely heavily on tools like Slack, JIRA and video conferencing to collaborate. Flexibility to join meetings with colleagues around the world is expected.

What you'll Do
  • Turning high-touch manual processes into fully automatic solutions and maintaining and improving existing automations.
  • Use your clear understanding of automation and orchestration procedures to automate wherever and whenever possible while eliminating technical debt.
  • Be a specialist at articulating technical characteristics of your services and the dependencies between services.
  • Collaborate with and guide development teams to engineer scalable, fail-safe, and optimized solutions for the Marketo product suite.
  • Resiliency and recoverability; test, maintain and improve existing processes, implement, test, and maintain new processes.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for onboarded projects, ensuring that our systems remain reliable for those who depend on them.
What you need to succeed
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5+ years of directly related experience.
  • 6 + years proven experience building, provisioning, and operating highly available and sophisticated services in AWS, Azure, GCP and/or VMware. Experience in all is preferred.
  • 6 + years demonstrated ability in modern development practices (microservices architectures, etc.)
  • Proven ability to define and detail technical architectures of highly complex and scalable systems
  • Experience implementing Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
  • This SRE position requires strong technical skills, excellent communications and problem-solving skills, and the ability to engage and work well with other teams, as well as individually
  • Strong understanding of service-to-service communications (OSI 7 layer model)

Pursuant to the Colorado Fair Pay Act, below is a summary of compensation elements for this role at the company if based in Colorado.

Colorado Starting Salary: $127,000 - $164,900

At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
