The Role in Brief:

Software Engineer, Back-end

As a Software Engineer, you will be joining our superb software engineering team to solve engaging problems that feed into our two-week release cycle. Back-end Software Engineers are an essential part of EAB and use modern technologies such as Microservices, Kotlin/Java, NoSQL, and AWS Serverless, among other tools, to build high-quality, high-performance, and scalable solutions. You will also participate in a culture of collaboration and growth that provides mentorship and paths for career advancement.

This position is remote.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop applications that interact with our web platform and third-party partner and client systems
  • Collaborate with the product, QA, DevOps, and data teams to achieve common goals
  • Follow common sustainable architecture patterns, design patterns, data management methodologies, and development methodologies and standards
  • Ensure high quality solutions by implementing unit tests and developing for performance and scalability
  • Independently break down, estimate, design, plan, and deliver small and medium sized features
  • Contribute to existing tech stack and actively research and advocate for new tools, technologies, and methodologies to evolve it over time
  • If desired, you can also choose to contribute as a full-stack software engineer or grow into a full-stack software engineer but that is not a requirement for this position. Our front-end is built on React.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Passion for making performant enterprise applications
  • 2+ years of development experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience
  • Expertise with Kotlin or Java, Spring Boot, and relational or NoSQL databases
  • Experience with Microservices and AWS Lambda
  • Experience with back-end test frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, etc.
  • Understanding of SDLC and the technical and business challenges that come with development of a product
  • Self-driven and a desire to work efficiently and produce high quality
  • Thorough, methodical, problem solver, and creative with extreme attention to detail
  • Extremely strong verbal and written communication skills. This role must easily be able to have clear communication over email, IM, phone, and in person.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Expert at time management as well as working & finding answers to questions independently
Ideal Qualifications:
  • Expertise with Kotlin or Java, Spring Boot, JPA, Hibernate, MySQL, and MongoDB
  • Experience with JUnit and Mockito
  • Experience with AWS Lambda
  • Experience with traditional back-end architecture and design patterns
  • Experience with declarative and imperative programming
  • Experience with Agile development
