Description:
- The Architect will work closely with high-performing DevOps teams to architect application, data analytics and AI/ML solutions that are aligned with and enable business strategies and objectives.
- Owns and drives consistent common architectures across multiple teams.
- Applies expertise to direct technical architecture roadmaps, evolutions and transitionary phases of work at varying levels of detail.
- Guides both new solutions and evolutions of existing applications.
- Contributes key guidance on how applications and AI-enabled solutions are architected, developed and deployed.
- Evangelizes agile architectures that support continuously evolving solutions. This Architect will create and apply reusable, repeatable architecture patterns using industry-leading frameworks and standards to develop concepts for digitally transformative solutions.
- Focuses on the identification and development of reusable components, patterns, frameworks and reference architectures to reduce overall system maintenance and development costs, while simultaneously maximizing the reliability, expandability and security of solutions.
- The Architect will act as the principal and senior technical leader on cross-organizational and enterprise activities, working with agile teams, business and subject matter experts to enable the development of detailed and implementable system architectures.
- Leads technical and design discussions with business teams and stakeholders.
- Identifies gaps and works to develop architectural vision, strategy and deliverables to address gaps, and documents architectural artifacts.
- The Architect will work as a member of the Analytic and Application Digital Architecture team, under the Strategy & Architecture directorate, to define and apply solution architectures to transform business activities across Mission Areas and Functional Teams.
- This team is made up of senior architects with expertise in application development, cloud platforms, microservices, containers, systems integration, analytics, AI/ML development and architecture practices.
- Internal application and analytic development and modernization; across a portfolio of projects for many functional areas.
- Viability and implementation of technical architectures produced for agile development teams is a primary measurement of success.
- Contributions and guidance to agile teams with solution architecture creation and implementation assistance.
- Adherence to architecture process and reviews within expected timelines and deadlines.
- Reuse of and contributions to existing patterns and architectures for analytics and applications are also a measure of success.
- Collaborative team environment of architects, and assigned as solution architect member of 1-3 agile development teams
Required Skill Sets:
- 8+ years of experience in the design and development, integration, and deployment of web applications and analytic solutions.
- Experience with Java and/or Python, databases, cloud platforms and web services.
- Experience in technical leadership roles guiding the solutions produced by development teams.
- Experience collaborating with business teams to understand their needs and opportunities to translate those into architectural requirements.
- Experience working with agile frameworks and methodologies, such as Scrum, SAFe, XP, etc.
- Experience leading or working with virtual and geographically diverse teams.
- U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance. No current clearance required.
- Experience applying architecture frameworks and analytical thinking in decision making.
- Experience architecting, designing, building, and supporting cloud-native microservice application solutions in commercial cloud environments • Experience with API strategies and system integration architectures
- Expertise with Java, Spring Boot, Python, API development, Oracle, MySQL and AWS GovCloud
- Expertise in agile development methodologies and automated testing approaches
- Expertise in DevOps tools, such as Jenkins, Jira, Terraform, Jenkins, Artifactory, Maven, Git, Subversion, Eclipse, Junit, Selenium, Fortify, Apigee, Docker, Splunk, application monitoring, CI/CD pipelines
- Experience designing large-scale software solutions in a highly-regulated and secure industry environment
- Ability to mentor others to elevate their technical abilities and prepare them to step into the role of a solution architect.
- Experience with successful verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with individuals with varied technical and business backgrounds.
- Ability to inspire confidence in technical approaches with in-depth domain expertise and clear, persuasive communications.
- Experience with architecting solutions for a variety of value streams and business functional areas.
- Certification in TOGAF, DoDAF or other architecture frameworks • Certification in Cloud platforms, such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud
- Experience developing solution architecture models and views using formal modeling languages, such as ArchiMate, UML, BPMN, SysML, etc.
- Proficiency with Sparx Enterprise Architect • Advanced troubleshooting and debugging skills
- Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) • Raytheon Six Sigma (R6s) qualification/certification
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Math or technology/sciences discipline or STEM degree, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience in the design and development, integration, and deployment of web applications and analytic solutions.
