Key Responsibilities
- Own architecture and solve technically hard problems, evaluate and align strategic fit solutions across the platform and propose changes to the technical architecture and design solutions as applicable.
- Work to create technical architecture, establish prioritization of the product features, design scalable automation and navigate capacity planning activity.
- This person will work closely with software engineering and customer-facing teams developing infrastructure and applications, and will specifically focus on driving scalability, stability, reliability, operability of services, and security for BuildingLink products and services.
- Set standards for deployments at scale, infrastructure reliability and scalability.
- Iterate, revisit and optimize service availability, scalability, and performance
- Manage service availability and scalability through process, tools, and automation.
- Perform post-mortems and optimize incident response processes
- Identify bottlenecks and problems throughout the infrastructure
- Act as an advocate for growing DevOps and SRE competencies within the engineering group.
- Develops innovative ways to smartly measure, monitor & report application and infrastructure health
- Work closely with business units, engineering teams, infrastructure areas and vendors to identify, review and evaluate best practices/methodologies for provisioning, application scaling, configuration management, capacity planning, monitoring, etc. to improve organization-wide visibility into how distributed systems interact and perform in production
- Stay abreast of industry trends and technologies and know when/how/if to apply them appropriately
- Evaluate and align strategic fit solutions across the platform and solutions specific to software technologies
- Continuously raise our standard of engineering excellence by implementing best practices for coding, testing, and deployment
- Own daily operational goals with the team
- Identify and lead improvement projects to improve availability, scalability, and reliability
- Analyze and comprehend how customers are using the platform and help drive continuous improvement of the offering based on that
- Possesses the ability to perform quick RCA of any complexity
- Propose changes to the technical architecture and design solutions as applicable

- System Performance and Analysis
- CI/CD tools (Jenkins/Sonar/Nexus/GitHub)
- Monitoring and alerting experience (ELK, New Relic)
- Configuration management (Ansible)
- Databases (MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL), Network administration, DNS, TCP/IP , Security, PKI Certificate management
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of experience with system design, algorithms, data structures, systems analysis
- 7+ years of commercial experience in Windows, Linux, Azure, AWS
- Strong sense of architecture and design for fault tolerance, scale-out approaches, and stability.
- Deep knowledge in DevOps tools and practices, Enterprise standards and security.
- Knowledge of scripting languages and main concepts of Object Oriented programming
- Mastery of multiple modern platforms: Git, AWS, Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform
- Expert level of scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash)
- 3-4 years of leadership experience in leading a highly productive DevOps / SRE teams of 5 people or more (preferred, but not required)
- Team player who is eager to help others to succeed through mentoring and leading by example.
- Experienced in creating technical partnerships across teams
- Demonstrated cross-functional influence, leadership and project management
- Strong customer focus and confident in making critical decisions independently in a fast paced and demanding environment
- Experience working in a startup environment and a global distributed team
- Excellent written and verbal technical communication. Able to explain complex solutions in easy-to-understand terms
- Local to New York preferred, open to fully remote for the right candidate.
