The Sr Linux Hosting & Storage Engineer is responsible for management and maintaininance of OptumServe’s IT infrastructure environment and support os business operations. Work as a lead on IT projects that involve technology and product evaluation, implementation, deployment and troubleshooting as assigned. Act as one of a team of technical points of contact in support IT operations and ensure efficient, balanced, secure and uninterrupted operation of all supported systems.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, educate, and grow the technology capabilities and projects of the Hosting and Storage team by providing current and future state technology overview and education
  • Provide 3rd level support of Hosting and Storage technologists
  • Ensure the maintenance and accuracy of Hosting and Storage documentation
  • Develop new and improve existing processes and procedures as it relates to maintenance, automation, system testing, and functional validation
  • Lead team in maintenance and enhancement projects of supported technologies
  • Partner with Engineering and Architecture team in executing technology assessments, evaluations, proof of concept and recommendations of products and services that achieve and maintain OptumServe's infrastructure goals
  • Partner with the Engineering and Architecture team to define, design and implement technology projects that grow infrastructure capabilities and adhere to required standards and business needs
  • Participate in 24x7 On-Call rotation
  • All other tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT, MIS, computer science, Engineering. Equivalent experience or related field and/or applicable military experience will be considered
  • 6+ years of experience as a Linux Systems Administrator
  • Experience developing Ansible playbooks and defining scheduled workflows using AWX or Ansible Tower
  • Fluent user of collaborative revision control software
  • Solid understanding of IT operations and their related dependencies
  • Ability to participate in 24x7 On-Call rotation
  • An understanding of end to end system dependencies (Infrastructure, System, Data, Telecom, Desktop, Mobile) to the resulting contract outcomes
  • Knowledge of data communications standards and implementations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of experience supporting SAS Viya Linux and container deployments
  • Scripting experience: bash, python, powershell
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Experience deploying and administering Kubernetes container orchestration platform in highly available and fault tolerant solution architectures
  • Experience managing infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or a similar technology
  • OS and Application Hardening in compliance-heavy environments to include DISA, NIST, VA6500, HIPAA
  • Experience deploying and maintaining business solutions using Microsoft Azure
  • DevOps Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) workflows
  • VMWare (vRealize, ESXi, Workstation Pro)
  • Cisco ACI or other SDN technologies implementing the Kubernetes Networking Model
  • Apache Tomcat or similar Java Servlet Container platform
  • Deployment and maintenance of highly-available JBoss, WildFly
  • Elasticsearch infrastructure administration
  • Prometheus, InfluxDB, Grafana infrastructure administration
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and avid collaborator: Thrives on frequent contact with teammates, supervisors, and a diverse population of stakeholders
  • Solid interpersonal skills including the ability to present, persuade and provide professional presentation materials to both large and small groups
  • Excellent teamwork skills and demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Ability to coach, inspire, and lead IT professionals across multiple disciplines
  • Proven organizational skills, project and time management, as well as follow through and attention to detail

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $79,700 to $142,600.
