Job Description
We are currently seeking a driven, skilled, and highly experienced Staff DevOps Engineer to join our DevOps team. You will play a significant role in building out new infrastructure for company projects, and also building monitoring and alerting infrastructure to maintain reliability of the services we provide for the entire company. This is a unique opportunity to build out an AWS infrastructure from the ground up. AbSci's scientific and engineering teams depend on AWS so this role will be critical to the continued growth of AbSci. This position will support the AI group's GPU cluster, and their workloads, and converting the existing process' to a Kubernetes/EKS based infrastructure to make full use of the resources.
You will leverage your background and understanding of AWS and Kubernetes/EKS based infrastructure using tools like Terraform in order to provide the AI, Data Science, and Software Engineering teams support infrastructure for delivering world class scientific computing applications. This position requires strategic thinking and a high level of collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams within Absci, including support machine learning and software engineers with containerization, orchestration, and deployment of their projects; CI/CD automation; terraform guidance; and written documentation. Responsibilities:
- Build out AWS and Kubernetes/EKS based infrastructure using tools like Terraform, Helm, Python, Docker, GitLab and others.
- Support the AI team in implementing DevOps solutions on their GPU cluster, managing their workloads, and converting the existing process' to a Kubernetes/EKS based infrastructure.
- Support software engineers with containerization, orchestration, and deployment of their projects; CI/CD automation; terraform guidance; and written documentation.
- Support deployment of commercial software to AWS
- Support integration of single sign on for various projects
- Support monitoring, trending, and alerting efforts
- Help handle day to day requests from various departments in the company
- Experience with Terraform with at least an intermediate level of skill.
- 5+ years of experience with Linux, including, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and deployments.
- 2+ years of experience with Kubernetes
- 5+ years of experience with AWS including EC2, EBS, S3, VPC, Route53, IAM, or others.
- Background in computer programming, ideally with Python or a willingness to learn Python.
- Professional experience in a DevOps role supporting complex infrastructure including databases, automation, network engineering, and CI/CD.
- Effective interpersonal communication and team collaboration skills but also possess the ability to work independently.
- A keen attention to detail.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability and willingness to mentor others.
- Experience working in a Biotechnology company.
- Proficient in Spark.
- Experience working with large scale HPC environments.
- Experience working with modern MLOps solutions
