This Engineer delivers business value through the application of scientific theories, mathematical methods, and empirical evidence to design, create, deliver, maintain, and govern technology solutions. Performs work in IS in all of the following Engineering specialties: Systems, Software. Has deeper technical skills within a specific domain. Works with occasional guidance when first entering the position, graduating to independent activities as knowledge and skills progress. Is guided by industry standards such as SWEBOK, DMBOK and industry best practices. These Engineers will be working on Tech modernization initiatives. Integrating older technologies to the SaaS environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Uses models (their own or created by others) as a starting point for designing and developing technologies that enable new or enhance existing business capabilities.

WHAT YOU'LL DO - Systems
  • Designs, builds, tests and manages complex software systems over their life cycles.
  • Maintains immediate technical currency. Monitors, updates and executes domain tactical plans. Participates in the development of simple tactical plans. Delivers an exceptional developer experience to our engineers for a domain, with a focus on self-service using modern approaches.
  • Collaborates with engineering leadership, product teams and other engineering teams, to uncover pain points and opportunities to accelerate delivery.
  • Provides Systems Life Cycle Management; monitors system utilization and performance and conducts system calibration and tuning to ensure system is stable and operating at desired efficiency.
  • With guidance, performs simple activities appropriate to novice level technical domain skills and knowledge.
  • Works with colleagues to investigate new system solutions to enhance service delivery experience through innovative experiments or Proofs of Concept.
  • Works with colleagues' assistance to resolve persistent system issues surfaced by technical support teams with novice level ability to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues.
WHAT YOU'LL DO - Software
  • Applies a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the development, operation, testing and maintenance of software. Responsible for the development, maintenance, testing and integration of applications and systems that support business operations.
  • Applies Software Engineering and Test Automation knowledge areas to the entire software life cycle of a complete solution, from definition and development to maintenance and optimization.
  • Participates in ideation and brainstorming sessions to devise creative and disruptive digital solutions; builds apps, APIs and data solutions to drive toward implementation of those solutions.
  • Develops automated test solutions to ensure delivery of high-quality code. Implements test automation processes and follows through on testing results.

  • Has skills in writing and debugging scripts/code for building and managing domain.
  • Has experience creating technical and non-technical documentation for production systems and to support end-user training.

VALUABLE EXPERIENCE:
  • Looking for strong individuals who are great at problem solving; able to work in multiple environments (experience in both older (ie .net) technologies and have learned more modern technologies like containers, API and cloud), and are interested in working with a team to set direction for modernization initiatives.
  • Experience with supporting integrations with Software as a Service (SaaS) via APIs
  • AWS Cloud experience
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Experience with MuleSoft
  • Experience with any of the following languages: .Net, Java, Ansible, Python or other scripting languages
  • Experience with Peoplesoft
Investment position:

Looking for someone who will work with our Investments customers to support our investment applications, while working to modernize them. Current investment software is in .net, but we are looking to modernize, so we want someone who can help with the existing applications but wants to help with vision and direction for the future. Skills in containers, API and cloud are desired as well.

Finance/Actuarial position:

Looking for someone to work with our Financial/Actuarial customers to support the systems we use. PeopleSoft skills are a plus but not necessary. We are looking for someone who will help with modernization and has a multitude of engineering and software skills. Skills in containers, API and cloud are desired as well.
