Job Description

Principle Responsibilities/Key Results Areas:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Digital and Developer Platform (DDP), this position leads critical support functions and engineering services that ensure the security, resilience, and reliability of products at the forefront of Visa’s digital payments growth and transformation. This position plays a leadership role in strategic initiatives by providing technology guidance to and partnership with executive stakeholders in Visa’s Cybersecurity, Operations & Infrastructure, and other Global Technology engineering and support functions. The individual must be a strong leader, able to engage and challenge senior audiences, identify and prioritize activities, and navigate a highly-matrixed, global environment.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Lead global strategy and execution of engineering services, site reliability, production release execution and security engineering for all DDP products
  • Ensure timely and successful releases of DDP products, provide automated solutions for environments, lead enterprise-class monitoring and alerting solutions for DDP products and offer customer support directly to clients
  • Provide application support across Visa Click-to-Pay, Visa Token Services, Visa Direct, Visa Digital Commerce Application (VDCA), Installments, Digital Currency, and many more. Advocate for Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices to ensure DDP applications and platforms perform at scale with high reliability.
  • Partner across Visa's Technology, Digital Products, as well as Operations & Infrastructure teams to deliver services and tools as Enterprise Monitoring Solutions, Live Auto Deploy Tool, Configuration Management and One-Click Environment Provisioning for Developers, Mobile Apps
  • Provide second-level support for production incidents and improve MTTD and MTTR capabilities through monitoring, functional analytics, and incident management
  • Drive efficiencies in the release management process in order to enable more frequent/on-demand software releases while maintaining release quality.
  • Set the vision and execution strategy needed to roll out cloud native platform services and enable more resilient release practices such as blue-green and canary deployment.
  • Set the vision and execution strategy for DDP’s security engineering function. Ensure compliance with vulnerability patching, SSDLC, responses to Pen-testing and Technology Security Requirements. Work collaboratively with all DDP product engineering functions, as well as Visa’s Cybersecurity team, to imbed security practices within engineering life cycle and ‘shift-left’ processes.
  • Serve as liaison between the various organizational entities (Product, Cybersecurity, Operations & Infrastructure, Client Services) and build relationships with senior leaders of these organizations
  • Lead, motivate, build and develop a great team by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe, secure, and inclusive work environment; drive career development and personal growth opportunities
  • Provide resource plans, budget tracking and forecasting. Manage the organization to achieve target scope, schedule and cost objectives
  • Establish clear, aligned goals and direction; provide candid feedback and coaching to maximize team competency, support career management and development of direct reports
Qualifications

Basic qualifications

  • 12 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or at least 8 years of work experience with a PhD.
Preferred qualifications
  • Bachelors or Masters with a STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math)
  • 15+ years relevant work experience; 10+ years of technical leadership experience and 10+ years of people management experience
  • Deep knowledge of operational systems management and extensive experience with incident management and response
  • Strong understanding and application of DevOps practices that can help elevate agile development practices
  • Proven track record of continuous improvement to organization’s results – in particular: release discipline, change management, anomaly detection, and incident response
  • Thorough understanding of and experience with the software development cycle, particularly related to enabling continuous integration and delivery capabilities that lead to clean, high quality releases.
  • Demonstrated passion for running horizontal support functions – and ability to balance aggressive product development aspirations with quality and integrity validation. Must be able to deal with healthy tension, push back on peer product development leaders effectively.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with building systems software in domains that deliver high throughput and low-latency (high TPS) with 5 9’s availability. Demonstrated understanding of design, architecture, and operational characteristics of highly available and scalable systems
  • Must be a natural collaborator, with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. The individual must be disciplined and comfortable with ambiguity, possessing the maturity and capability to interact and influence across multiple levels and organizations internal and external to Visa.
  • Must exhibit relevant and consistent leadership behaviors in team management, customer communications and internal interactions with peers, senior leadership and clients in order to exert influence and build relationships.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
