The VP, Engineering is a key member of the Engineering team responsible for people, process and technology management of the software engineering function focused on the implementation of solutions that align with the overall technical vision and strategy for Sandata s EVV products.

The VP contributes to architectural vision and direction, develops technical solutions, provides architectural advice and guidance, monitors emerging technologies, and leads technology evaluation and selection.

The VP will be a player/coach with the ability to manage a diverse team of onshore and offshore developers while participating at times in hands-on development to lead by example in delivering EVV product solutions.

What you will do:
  • Collaborate with CTO in developing and executing against tactical plans toward implementation of defined technology strategy for the future of Sandata s solutions
  • Directly manage, coach, motivate and mentor a team of onshore and offshore Software Engineers, providing technology leadership to foster team level collaboration, productivity, efficiency and velocity
  • Help develop plans for transforming existing Sandata EVV products from a monolithic solution into a consistent, reliable and scalable, cloud deployable set of microservices enabling product business capabilities in the home healthcare industry
  • Identify opportunities for refactoring, optimizing, and/or improving legacy codebases
  • Drive technical delivery of projects based on product development pipeline priorities
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Product Owners, peer technical managers, architects and other technical leads to deliver world class enterprise grade software and software enabled services
  • Plan, delegate, and track task assignments to team members, providing status to PMO
  • Plan, track and report on team resource capacity and utilization
  • Collaborate with and train developers on best practices, including unit testing, continuous integration practices code reviews, internal tool usage, technical roadblock mitigation and process improvements
  • Assist in the creation and delivery of solution architecture artifacts
  • Help design, develop and implement RESTful APIs for Sandata product interoperability
  • Responsible for the review, design analysis, modification, development, testing, documenting, and implementation of software application improvements, features and defects within the scheduled timeframe based on functional specifications
  • Help define and ensure adherence to coding standards and approved technologies
  • Provide technical assessment of the impact of any changes to product requirements
  • Contribute to the continued improvement of the organization s development procedures
  • Provides support to Tier3 customer service agents to triage and resolve client related issues
  • Ensure security of personal health information (PHI) and report any violations or observations to management.
  • Department heads are Point of Contact for security matters.
What you will bring:

Required:

  • 10+ years experience in technical leadership and engineering people management (preferably in an Agile environment)
  • Ability to define and track metrics that give insight into team productivity and velocity
  • 10+ years successfully leading and delivering upon full-stack software engineering projects
  • 10+ years full-stack experience with several of the following:Object Oriented Programming, Domain Driven Design, Java/J2EE, C#, REST, Spring/SpringBoot, JSON, Cache (Redis, memCached, ElastiCache), Message Queue (RabbitMQ, MSMQ, SQS, Kafka), JQuery, Javascript and Javascript based tech (Angular, React, Node), Container development and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Swarm, Helm, YAML)
  • Hands-on database development experience with SQL with particular concentration in Oracle PL/SQL (plus MS SQL, MySQL, RDS, Aurora, Redshift) and NoSQL technology (Mongo, Cassandra, Dynamo)
  • Experience with DevOps practices including automation, continuous integration and testing frameworks using GIT, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Code Pipelines, etc.
  • Conceptual knowledge of broad Cloud capabilities and hands on experience with one or more cloud technology platforms preferably AWS
  • Experience implementing Test Driven Development processes and other methods to help teams shift left in code quality
  • Proficiency with tools such as JIRA, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Ansible, Ant, Artifactory, Nexus, IntelliJ, Eclipse, Splunk, Grafana, JUnit, JMeter, SonarQube
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong, collaborative organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to create clear and concise goals for individual team members and foster accountability and ownership for the quality of delivered code
  • Passion for continuous learning
  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or Equivalent
