POSITION SUMMARY:
This position provides an excellent opportunity to play a significant role in supporting the technology needs of Marathon’s Environmental, Safety, Security, Law, Business Development, and Communications Corporate Services groups. In partnership with business analysts and project managers, the role will support and enhance the Corporate Services organization’s internally written applications, maintain integrations with cloud-based solutions, and build solutions from the ground up to meet the ever-changing needs of our business partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Build/Support/Maintain internally developed applications and cloud integrations and solutions across a variety of business units
  • Work closely with business and IT partners on efforts including development, technical analysis, demos
  • Understand how the technical landscape supports business operations and identify the best technologies to support business needs
  • Develop and maintain architectural guidelines and coding standards to ensure solutions are reliable, sustainable, and scalable
  • Contribute to a healthy team environment, collaborating with various organizations across IT including, analytics, database management, and peer developers/analysts as appropriate
  • Ensure solutions are implemented in a manner consistent with MPC corporate policies and IT standards, utilizing appropriate methods, controls, and documentation
  • Clearly communicate thoughts, specifications, requirements, and progress with business clients and peers, using appropriate means of communication
  • Understand and champion software development best practices, mentoring other developers on the team and across IT

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, related field or equivalent related experience
  • Two or more years of experience in an information technology role including, some experience in systems development required, with eight years of experience in information technology or business-related field preferred

SKILLS:
  • C#/.NET, exposure to .NET Core is a plus
  • ASP.Net Core REST Web API, OData is a plus
  • SQL Proficient
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of a formal SDLC methodology
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Command of applicable development tools and languages
  • Strong command of object-oriented fundamentals, including design patterns, encapsulation, abstraction, and SOLID development principles
  • Ability to manage multiple efforts and progress them simultaneously
  • Ability to work and develop within a team working on a single solution
  • Azure DevOps – git Source Control, work item management preferred
  • Azure DevOps Build Pipeline/YAML development
  • Azure DevOps Team Project Administration is a plus
  • Azure PaaS development a plus
  • Exposure to Agile/SCRUM methodologies is a plus
  • UX / Design thoughtfulness desired
  • Experience upgrading legacy application codebases is a plus
