Job Summary: The Azure Engineer is responsible for the uptime, reliability, performance, and management of all web applications and services in all environments (Production, Disaster Recovery, Development, et al) for our client's flagship global SaaS subscription-based website. This includes both management of the control plane for all deployed services as well as writing/maintaining tools that leverage automation to both minimize disruption and increase reliability for all our services and applications. A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience managing and deploying Azure-based solutions for traffic management, web hosting, web applications, load balancing applications, DevOps practices, securing workloads, and using automation to create and deliver modern, scalable, and resilient technology solutions for web and line-of-business (LOB) needs.

1.0 Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Specific duties and responsibilities include:

• Help our client maintain uptime, performance, and reliability goals of critical Azure-based web applications and services by managing multi-region deployments and architectures in support of the platform
• Support a mix of public and private Azure IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions to support the availability, orchestration, configuration scalability, maintenance, and monitoring of the environments, web applications, code deployments, and associated backend functions
• Assist various teams in migrating IaaS-based applications and deployments to PaaS and SaaS solutions in Azure. You will collaborate with the various product teams and leaders to design world class cloud- based site reliability solutions that leverage industry best practices, are scalable, reliable, secure, and meet performance requirements
• Monitor, troubleshoot, maintain, and report metrics on service and application issues (uptime, redundancy, latency, traffic, error rates, saturation, performance, usage, etc.)
• Leverage, maintain, and improve upon our client's infrastructure-as-code and source control for Azure deployments for SRE managed resources
• Automate server and service deployments, server and service configurations, audits of deployments and
• Configurations, and creating DevOps efficiencies using modern-day languages (such as PowerShell, C#, Python, ARM templates, Bicep, etc.)
• Follow, develop, and implement guidelines, checklists, and policies to promote continuous integration, ensure and improve data security, and reduce the possibility of “human error”
• Make security a priority at every step of the infrastructure lifecycle
  • Review and maintain security and event logs, create automated processing of events
  • Be first person to investigate threats identified by web application firewalls and intrusion detection systems
  • Ensure that we are always audit ready with regards to security and compliance
  • Regularly review Azure Security Center suggestions, mitigate security issues for SRE-based items
  • Proactively identify and develop solutions for mitigating SRE-based vulnerabilities
  • Help to establish, implement, adhere to, and mature Azure technology standards and guidelines
  • Collaborate on security-related items with Software Engineering, Products Security, DevSecOps, and Technical Operations teams
• Perform on-call duties for escalated issues, system implementations and upgrades that may occur after normal business hours and on weekends as required to minimize business impact
• Be responsive to failures and issues as part of a 24/7 on-call rotation
• Improve existing processes through automating solutions of recurring problems and enhancements to existing solutions
• Staying up to date on new Azure and cloud solutions, state-of-the-art web application infrastructure patterns
• Participate in disaster recovery tests and additional preparedness-related tasks
• Proactively analyze and bring forth ideas for continuous improvement
• Support and participate in the organization’s Continual Improvement Program to conform to ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 requirements by complying with the Quality Policy procedures and meeting QMS and ISMS objectives
• All employees have a professional duty to provide any information related to security issues, incidents or situations that present a potential security risk to the ISO Team, Management or their Supervisor
• Other tasks and projects as directed by supervisor

2.0 Requirements
2.1 Education and Training

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited university and/or equivalent work experience
• Azure certifications a plus

2.2 Knowledge and Skills

• 2+ years experience managing Azure web-based applications behind Azure Application Gateway
• 1+ years experience managing Azure applications behind an Azure Load Balancer
• 1+ years experience managing ASP.NET web applications
• Strong understanding of networking, DNS
• Strong understanding of Azure Active Directory and implementing RBAC-based identity access management for Azure Application Gateway, Load Balancer, and other services
• Strong understanding of when and how to automate deployments, maintenances, and testing for Azure
• Strong understanding of how to enable, view logs, monitoring in Azure web-based solutions
• Experience with monitoring solutions such as New Relic, Datadog, or similar
• Experience with source control (Git preferred)
• Solid understanding of security concepts, protocols, and configuration for Azure web-based services
• Understanding of creating redundancy, fail-over, backup and disaster recovery with Azure services
• Awareness of secure infrastructure frameworks and cloud security best practices
• Experience managing public facing websites written in ASP.NET a plus
• Experience managing microservices deployments in Azure a plus
• Able to quickly establish relationships with peers and their teams to build consensus
• Works well in a fast-paced, multi-task environment with competing and changing priorities
• Influence decisions based on data-driven presentations with critical thinking
• Self-starter with an aptitude for learning new technologies
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
