In the role of Cloud Engineer, you will take part in the design, implementation, configuration, monitoring, support and maintenance of cloud storage and computer systems, data centers, and media applications hosted on private and public clouds as well as on-premises bare metal and virtual infrastructure. Media applications include commercial encoding, transcoding, packaging, playout, and media asset management systems, as well as custom software applications that support various media workflows.As a member of the cloud engineering team, you will work with broadcast engineers, solution architects, media workflow specialists, operations centers, and product owners. You will work especially close with network engineers and our cloud providers as we build a best-in-class hybrid cloud based on the OpenStack platform:

- Management of virtualization using OpenStack Horizon, Cloudbolt, SwiftStack and APIs
- Integrate automation and DevOps tools including Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes to automate buildouts of entire cloud infrastructures.
- Design, implement, document, secure, monitor and maintain cloud-based digital media systems and services including video ingest, transcoding, packaging, delivery, storage, and understanding of network protocols and interfaces
- Maintain detailed documentation, monitoring tools and drawings as required to address growth and maintenance activities in support of operations teams
- Undertake corrective maintenance as necessary to maintain digital media workflows and systems
- Liaise with third party vendors (e.g. equipment vendors and software providers) during issue resolution and new platform evaluations
- Provide users and clients with professional, courteous, and timely technical support
- Participate in rotating on-call shifts to provide 24x7 digital engineering support
- Involvement with Data Center maintenance and buildout of physical infrastructure for on-prem cloud environments
- Control costs by autoscaling and monitoring cloud usage
- Teach and train others to build the team and avoid knowledge silos
- 4+ years in a systems engineering role administering Linux and Windows systems
- 2+ years of broad hands-on experiences in cloud systems such as AWS, GCP, Azure
- Deep understanding of virtualization with tools like OpenStack, HyperV and/or VMWare
- Technical knowledge of file, block and object storage and interfaces (SMB, NFS, NAS)
- Network experience with VLANs, Gateways, IP Routing
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, Python
- Configuration management using tools such Docker, Ansible, Jenkins, Puppet or Chef
- Understanding of security best practices

- A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate technical discipline (Engineering, Computer Science) would be preferred but not required
- Professional experience with Infrastructure As Code using Terraform, Cloud-formation or similar
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes
- Familiarity with REST APIs and curl
- XML and JSON manipulation
- Has worked in an Agile environment
- Familiarity with transcoders and packagers such as Titan, Elemental or Harmonic.
- Familiar with Origin Servers and CDN solutions such as Akamai and Fastly
- Some knowledge in digital video formats: MPEG-TS, HLS, MPEG-DASH
- Proficiency in basic office applications, Teams, Office, SmartSheets, Sharepoin
