As the Development Operations (DevOps) Architect / Tech Lead for the North America Digital Platform your role is to act under minimal direction, leading the strategy, design & review of Development Operations (DevOps) and managing the Application Management Support teams as it relates to both day to day operations as well as moderately complex projects & enhancements in the e-commerce and Digital space at Whirlpool Corporation.
This role is in the Global Information Systems Ecommerce & Marketing team and will mainly support Whirlpool North America (US, Canada, Mexico), but you will also be expected to collaborate and coordinate with groups across the globe.

As the Development Operations (DevOps) Architect / Tech Lead for the North America Digital Platform your role is to act under minimal direction, leading the strategy, design & review of Development Operations (DevOps) and managing the Application Management Support teams as it relates to both day to day operations as well as moderately complex projects & enhancements in the e-commerce and Digital space at Whirlpool Corporation.
This role is in the Global Information Systems Ecommerce & Marketing team and will mainly support Whirlpool North America (US, Canada, Mexico), but you will also be expected to collaborate and coordinate with groups across the globe.
Your responsibilities will include
- Set overall vision, feature, development/content strategy, and implementation roadmap for CI / CD, Delivery and automation tools and frameworks that support the DevOps teams processes such as, but not limited to: Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Sonarqube, Nexus, TestNG, Selenium, XRay Testing, and JMeter
- Drive execution of this roadmap and strategy, collaborating closely with internal and external team members
- Accountable for evaluating and implementing tools, strategies, and processes associated with managing, delivering, and deploying configuration as code
- Implement monitoring solutions that identify system bottlenecks, failure points, and production issues
- Accountable for evaluating, revising, expanding and improving Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and established end-user processes, procedures, and policies as it relates to the key stakeholders/end users
- Accountable for authoring and maintaining applicable system/solution documentation for the CI / CD and Delivery infrastructure, app dev, app design, and related processes
- Actively participate in the evaluation of end-user utilization of systems, adherence to processes, and outputs of key metrics
- Accountable for establishing key reporting and analytical strategies and desired outputs to enable key process stakeholders key metrics & system-generated outputs to support the following, but not limited to: evaluation of code / functional quality, requirements traceability, CI / CD process outputs, performance outputs
- Proactively identify and manage, as well as actively serve as a point of escalation, for system and process-related issues as they arise and ensure that appropriate resolution
- Stay abreast of industry-leading best practices and brings them to the attention of the leadership team
- Develops and mentors the team through on-boarding, open communication, training, and development opportunities.
- Lead DevOps Engineers on how to build processes where dependencies are represented clearly in code. This role plays an operational role by troubleshooting issues in development systems and is also responsible for the architecture and technical leadership of the entire DevOps infrastructure.
- Lead automation and continuous improvement of the CI/CD and delivery tools, processes, and systems
- Actively interfaces with Application Architects, Solution Architects, and Principal Architects to drive the collaboration and issue remediation
- Accountable to compile and report out metrics on Stability, Quality & velocity, working with various internal and external teams.
- Establish DevOps metrics and reporting cadence
- Develop new automated reporting mechanisms for DevOps and SCM management.
- Measure Build & Deployments- success, failure, and execution time
- Oversee and contribute to environment strategy and best practices about what will be done in what environment, working closely with the environment manager. Provide thought leadership on branching and merging strategies and version control, working closely with the Release Manager and the delivery teams
- Collaborate with the Delivery Leads and Release Manager to ensure that the teams adhere to the established standards, practices, and guidelines associated with executing git-flow, code reviews, and merging/deployment activities
- Contribute to the development of and monitor the release management process, procedures, best practices
- Bachelors' degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering
- 8+ years of experience in data architecture
- Experience working with Cloud storage solutions in AWS and/or Azure/GCP
- Experience with data modeling tools, e.g., Lucidchart, Visio, etc.
- Operational and Team Lead Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) /Continuous Development (CD) tools (e.g. Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitHub, Ansible)
- Experience with configuring, and utilizing analytics and alerts from Monitoring Solutions such as Dynatrace, New Relic
- Delivery Lead experience with providing oversight for Sprint / Release planning including capacity evaluation, test plan oversight, resource management, and project management
- Experience with Environment Management and Environment strategies such as promotion paths, lockdown Hot-Fix management, Environment Build, and Refresh
- 5 or more years of experience in app dev and /or CI-CD system admin/engineer
- The ideal candidate will have at minimum working knowledge of containerized environments (Dockers, DC/OS, Kubernetes, Docker Swarm)
- Operational Experience with delivery execution tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project
- Experience working with and utilizing reference data, application configuration, and environment configuration
- Understanding of standard networking protocols and components such as HTTP, (Domain Name System) DNS, Transmission Control Protocol (TCP/IP), ICMP, and Load Balancing
- Knowledge of (shell) scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Perl, etc.)
- Working experience with monitoring and data analysis tools (Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, etc.)
- Understanding of different development methods and their differences (Agile, Waterfall, TDD)
- Articulate, persuasive, and communicate clearly, simply, and effectively to any level of the organization and be comfortable facilitating meetings
- Highly motivated, critical thinker with excellent interpersonal skills, strong collaboration, and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
