SUMMARY
We are seeking a DevOps Engineer I with an interest and a passion in automation, cloud infrastructure, and making delivery more efficient and productive. Someone who likes to build, configure, automate, and optimize things and inject continuous integration and delivery into the software development lifecycle would be the ideal candidate for this exciting opportunity. As a DevOps Engineer, you will support the delivery lifecycle, troubleshoot and resolve platform issues, and work with others to accomplish results with a direct and meaningful impact on the delivery of AccuWeather platforms. We are also looking for someone who is innovative and has great problem solving and analytical skills.
The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for supporting the continuous integration and delivery process, monitoring platforms, troubleshooting and resolving issues, scripting and configuring tools, and assembling and integrating technologies across platforms. While working closely within, and across teams, the DevOps Engineer will ensure lifecycle and platform standards are met, and continuous improvements are made. To ensure consistency across development, test, and production environments, you will collaborate on the documentation of configurations, changes, and delivery processes. RESPONSBILITIES
- Works on and supports automated builds, deployments, validations, and configurations
- Maintains and executes automated CI/CD pipelines for development, QA, and production
- Instruments code, configures tools, and dashboards to help visualize and understand real-time system health, usage, and performance metrics
- Maintains cloud-based platforms and ensures service health monitoring to enable proactive issue mitigation and expedited issue resolution
- Provides input into best practices for source control, continuous integration, release management, and validation
- Continuously improves our build and deployment processes
- Identifies opportunities to improve our platforms related to the most common tasks
- Participates in sprint planning with the project teams to keep initiatives moving forward
- Other duties as assigned
- Basic knowledge of cloud-based platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform
- Experience with Linux / Unix or Windows platforms
- Programming experience in C, C++, Java, or C# and/or scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, Bash, Powershell
- Understanding of Kubernetes, orchestration, CI systems such as Jenkins, configuration and provisioning tools such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, and version control tools such as Git, TFS
- Makes sound decisions when faced with challenging alternatives that result in successful outcomes
- Self-driven with good problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to be adaptable and proactive
- Good verbal and written communication, collaboration, reporting, and analytical skills
- Adaptable to engage on both delivery and platform related tasks as needed
