DevOps Engineer II
Remote for client based in Jacksonville, FL
Direct Hire
Develops, deploys, and maintains incremental software updates, ensuring stability and reliability. As a DevOps Engineer II, you will be responsible for automating and improving our build and deploy processes. monitoring and operations; public and private cloud infrastructure, troubleshooting and resolution across dev, test, and production environments.
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops automated release tools meant to allow for continuous build and release processes.
Serves as a liaison between application development teams and operational infrastructure teams, integrating the full software deployment lifecycle.
Reviews application requirements and anticipates system needs in order to ensure availability and scalability of systems.
Troubleshoots code and assists with the resolution of coding issues.
Coordinates release of new or revised software or systems and monitors performance.
Using APM and other tools you will monitor production systems; remediating production issues and implementing performance/cost improvements.
Identify capacity and performance issues to ensure we meet our SLAs
Documentation of services and processes
Design, implement and manage production-grade services in Public clouds (Azure) using a variety of technologies, ensuring geographic redundancy, security, and best practices
Design and manage production-grade services in Private clouds, liaising with internal Operations teams
Design and implement CI/CD processes and tooling
Ensure pre-production environments are built and managed
Perform deployments of high throughput revenue-generating applications
Experience with software development and supporting developers
Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in technical discipline or related field or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Hands-on experience with public cloud providers; Azure preferred.
Experience deploying and operating enterprise-scale applications in high throughput production environments
Hands-on experience provisioning Infrastructure as Code with Terraform
Hands-on experience in managing services with configuration management tools
Strong experience in Continuous Integration tools
Experience building production-grade services with fault tolerance for zonal and regional issues in public clouds
Experience capturing metrics and monitoring cloud infrastructure
A working understanding of code and scripting (Java, JavaScript, PHP, .NET, Python, etc.)
Experience in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment using source control tools like git and git-flow branching strategies
CI/CD
Strong experience and knowledge of Containers (Kubernetes)
Hands-on experience with Linux System Administration
Source Code Management (Git & Gitlab) Communicates ideas both verbally and in written form in a clear, concise, and professional manner
Knowledge of basic IT technologies (i.e. operating systems, network devices, software development and architecture)
Debugging skills
