SAIC is seeking experienced Developmental Operations (DevOps) Software Engineers to provide engineering and technical advisory and support to the Space and Missile Systems Center, Directorate of Special Programs (SMC/DirSP). SMC/DirSP equips U.S. forces with space control systems to gain, maintain, and exploit space superiority. It directs the planning, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment of a complex and dynamic portfolio of space superiority capabilities of the highest national priority.
The position requires an individual with expertise and extensive experience in technical programs, technical program management, agile software development, and specific experience with software development in a DevOps environment. The candidate will provide technical and acquisition support to Government and contractor milestone reviews to assess progress, issues, and meeting mission requirements traceability.
The position is based in El Segundo, CA.

The position is based in El Segundo, CA.
Key duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide expert advice to the program manager on technical progress of the program with an emphasis on software development
- Assess project objectives and propose requirements allocation across the system(s), inform design trades, author and manage systems engineering documentation (eg, technical writing), implement configuration management procedures, and review and assess contractor design solutions to determine if they meet requirements and recommend alternative solutions as necessary.
- Review and assess contractor deliverables and test/validation/verification activities to ensure requirements are met
- Identify software development risks and notify the program management team, develop assessments of contractor software development, partner with the development contractor to guide software and integration and testing
- Perform technical and independent technical risk assessment and evaluation of execution against the technical baseline and software engineering
- Monitor software algorithm development and provide independent assessments, recommend procedural and system improvements and efficiencies
- Assess viability from a programmatic and technical execute perspective.
- Develop software technical requirements, develop software test plans and procedure, oversee software testing, verification, and validation activities
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 9+ years of related experience; Master’s with 7+ years; PhD with 4+ years
- Must have a background working in DevOps software development environments with specific experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
- Software Program Management / Acquisition
- Agile software development
- JIRA
- Docker
- Container
- Kubernetes
- Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD),
- Cloud - Platform One
- Must be able to interface with all levels of functional/division acquisition offices to accomplish projects for the government program office
- Must be able to work independently
Desired Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI
- Advanced Degree
- Background in a technical discipline, engineering, and/or systems engineering
- Experience in acquisition and program management within the Air Force community
- Space control mission area experience and extensive experience in acquisitions and contract planning
- Prior Military Service
- Expertise managing or overseeing a development operations or software intensive development program
