The Joint Staff J7 (JSJ7) DevOps System Administration is responsible for implementation, support, tuning, and performance using container technologies and central server and client architectures to support the development, testing, and production delivery of enterprise-wide, mission-critical applications and services for the JSJ7 Environmental Architecture Division (EAD).
Duties
Under limited supervision, this candidate is responsible for the continuous operation of test systems, servers, networks and related infrastructure in support of Joint Training for modeling and simulation systems and supporting infrastructure. Builds and deploys container-based applications using Development, Security and Operations (DevSecOps) and Git Operations (GitOps) strategies to test, document and install new software releases, patches, updates and manage the overall configuration to ensure it is integrated with other training tools, up to date and secure. Performs hardware and software troubleshooting. Troubleshoot networking issues (Linux, Windows Networking, TCP/IP). Must have a strong passion for learning and applying evolving technology innovations using Kubernetes, Docker or other container runtime environments. Monitor the use of system resources, hard disk, cpu, and memory and perform predictive analyses. Identify and build automation solutions to provide systematic management of information technology solutions using scripting languages such as Ansible and shell scripting.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree Computer Science or related discipline plus 5-7 years of directly related experience. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted for applicable work experience.
Directly related experience in computer repair and configuration.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of software development and Linux and Windows operating systems requirements and configuration. Knowledge of container environments such as Docker Kubernetes, Openshift or Rancher strongly desired. Experience with cybersecurity policy and system hardening per DoD policy strongly desired.
Linux experience is strongly desired
Software engineering skills desired
Experience with software revisions systems such as git, github or gitlab
General scripting knowledge including ansible, bash, cshell, ksh, perl desired
General experience with DevOps, DevSecOps and GitOps
COMPTIA Security+ mandatory
Ability to lift at least 25 pounds
Must be a US Citizen with a Secret clearance or the the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance.
