Overview


The Director of Application Development drives the development and maintenance of custom applications that address business needs while aligning with Lennar's long term technology goals. This position will work closely with Product team to ensure goals are met for development and features and functionalities are delivered according to approved roadmap.

The incumbent has full responsibility for applications development, administration, security, and operations teams and the integration of applications platform with other systems and supporting infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clear and concise priorities in alignment with the strategic vision of the company and manage resources to support effective execution.
  • Provide leadership in defining application development strategy, hosting and maintenance of apps, defining support procedures, and implementing practical business solutions under multiple deadlines.
  • Provide leadership for implementation and enhancement of custom application portfolio by building technology capabilities as necessary.
  • Provide expertise in implementation of technology solutions for cybersecurity, compliance, governance, controls, and regulation.
  • Make recommendations regarding the viability and appropriateness of project plans and technology solutions for delivering agreed functionality within approved budget and schedule.
  • Serve as the active leader for Lennar's custom applications working with multiple vendors/consultants and resources on the successful delivery of our application platform.
  • Provide effective leadership to assigned team and create an environment where team members are motivated by their work.
  • Improve associate experience with the application and drive productivity.
  • Accountable for ensuring resource allocation in alignment with timeline and deliverables.
  • Accountable for leading multiple teams responsible for the designing, coding, integration and overall production maintenance of our app platform.
  • Manage and direct teams that comprise of associate salaried employees, local contractors, project consultants and offshore resources.
  • Provide oversight for new development along with support for existing functionalities created by developers.
  • Manage and direct developers in the design and development of integrations between custom application platform and other systems such as JD Edwards, Salesforce, datawarehouse etc. as needed.
  • Responsible for the budget management.
  • Responsible for the continuation of building on the Lennar Corporate culture by interviewing and hiring resources that meet the skill set needed for the organization.
  • Build and manage cross department relationships.
Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree required. Masters Degree or multiple certifications preferred.
  • 12+ years of IT experience including minimum 8 years experience in management or leadership of application development teams.
  • 5+ years of prior experience in development using one or more of the popular object oriented languages.
  • Mastery of technology solutions delivery, relationship management, and project governance.
  • Deep knowledge in SDLC phases of planning, requirements, design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Experience in Agile methodology using Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience in DevOps methodology and cloud based application management using at least one of Azure/AWS/GCP.
  • Experience with workflow management tool such as service now.
  • Knowledgeable on Master Data Management, database technologies, SQL, and data analytics.
  • Knowledgeable on latest security, authorization, and authentication frameworks in application development.
  • Knowledge in home building industry is an advantage.
  • Must have experience leading software development projects and the ability to deliver projects on time and in budget.
  • Must have leadership experience and strong communication skills.
  • Must have experience building, maintaining and enhancing development teams.
  • Must have strong analytical skills.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:

This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the Director of FS to have the ability to operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry up to 25 lbs. Finger dexterity is necessary. 10-20% of travel is required.

Additional Requirements:
  • Must be able to communicate in technical and business terminology along with being able to deliver very clear and concise status to upper managers including C-level executives.
  • Ability to work as part of a team with on and offshore resources.
  • Ability to provide development and delivery time estimates.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and deliverable actions based on project requirements.
  • Position requires reliable, consistent and punctual attendance.
