In the role as DevOps Architect, you will provide technical leadership to the DevOps team to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies, specifically in the area of Digital Health and Artificial Intelligence. You will formulate, deliver and/or manage projects assigned and work with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for providing a long term vision and roadmap for the DevOps team.
A Day in the Life
The DevOps Architect, will mentor and provide technical leadership to an outstanding DevOps engineering team, passionate about building the next generation Connected Care Platform to help transform Medtronic’s Patient Monitoring business. The DevOps Architect will be a thought, effort and initiative leader in DH&AI to drive software delivery transformation within the organization. The DevOps Architect will collaborate with team members to deliver on process improvements, tooling, and infrastructure to support goals such as test automation and CI/CD. The DevOps Architect will drive change through new technology adoption and re-engineering where necessary to support continuous improvement.

The DevOps Architect will drive change through new technology adoption and re-engineering where necessary to support continuous improvement.
Responsibilities Include:
- Be a technical coach and mentor for the DevOps team
- Promote and inspire a DevOps team that recognizes that DevOps is more than any specific tool, technology or practice – it is a mindset and culture
- Deploy and maintain CI/CD pipelines across multiple environments
- Implement automation, effective monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code
- Keep up to date with DevOps best practices to increase the quality and velocity of deployments
- Secure, scale and manage both Windows Server and Linux virtual environments
- Design and implement secure automation solutions for development, testing, and production environments
- Drive innovation by providing development and test environments which encourage experimentation and risk-taking.
- Collaborate with other cross-functional leaders to ensure successful development, release, and launch of world-class products
- Provide a technical vision and roadmap for the DevOps team
- Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to identify new technologies and tools to utilize on a go forward basis
- Bachelors degree required
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or relevant field
- 5+ years of experience as a technical lead or expert in DevOps
- Strong coding background in Python
- Experience with continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) and proven track record of implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef)
- Experience with both Windows and Linux environments, preferably in a system administration capacity. This includes software installation, system configuration and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot operational issues across DevOps systems and propose and implement new solutions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an aptitude for expressing the value of technology and ideas
- Experience with acting as a mentor to peers on technology, tools, and technical subjects
- Experience with virtualization environments
- Experience with interacting/leading remote teams
- Experience managing a VMWare virtualization environment
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, New Relic, Nagios)
- Experience with cloud technology (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Knowledge of LAN and wireless networks
- Experience collaborating with IT engineers to design and deploy systems/networks
- Experience in the medical device industry
- Experience with cybersecurity and DevSecOps
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) languages like Terraform or Ansible
- Experience with measuring software delivery performance metrics (lead time, deployment frequency, mean time to restore, change/fail percentage)
- Experience with version control systems such as Git, GitLab, Perforce, or Azure DevOps
