The Opportunity
We are seeking a talented Release Manager III (RM) to protect and manage the movement of all software changes through the release cycle. The Release Manager III ensures the proper structure is in place to allow the company to scale efficiently. The Release Manager III interfaces and communicates with product owners, development managers, infrastructure, and the PMO on a daily basis. Equally, the Release Manager III provides reporting and meeting updates to senior IT management and line of business.

The Release Manager III also collaborates with product management and project teams to manage and deploy releases into production.

- This position is fully-remote. That means we are open to talent across the country and the person in this position will be able to continue working remotely even after we transition back into our physical office locations.
- Develops common strategies for release governance across multiple departments.
- Establishes consistent release management processes.
- Manages movement of all software changes through build, test, and production environments, including third party software changes impacting the CO-OP technology ecosystem.
- Facilitates cross-department coordination of release management functions.
- Tracks all CO-OP and third party software changes in an enterprise-wide release calendar.
- Informs senior management of enterprise-wide exposure to release risk and effectively mitigate it.
- Measures release cadence and effectiveness using common metrics across the entire software portfolio.
- Forecasts demand for release resources and identifies opportunities for greater efficiency across the enterprise.
- Forward Plans the release windows and cycles across a portfolio
- Manages risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
- Measures and monitors progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations
- Coordinates release content and effort based on the service request backlog, pending service requests, third party applications, or operating system updates
- Communicates all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes
- Manages relationships and coordinates work between different teams at different locations
- Conducts Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews
- Completes weekly Release Reporting
- Communicates release details and schedules to the business as required
- Negotiates, plans and manages all release activities
- Works with application developers to understand impacts of branches and code merges
- Maintains the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors
- Continually works towards making improvements in the release process
- Leads and coordinates Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment Plans and checklists
- Develops scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various platforms
- Participates in CAB meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks
- Maintains a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
- Researches new software development and configuration management methodologies and technologies and analyzes their application to current configuration management needs
- Creates common standards and formats for release playbooks and work with production control to standardize release decision-making.
- Defines common mechanisms for rollback and standards for capturing release-related performance indicators
- Produces Deployment, Run Books and Implementation Plans
- Adhere to Agile principles and philosophies (Scrum or Kanban, as applicable) in fulfillment of the role.
- Collaborate within the direct team in accordance with Team Agreement, Definition of Ready, and Definition of Done.
- Work as a cross-functional team member in an Agile setting to help complete and deliver the team commitments.
- Collaborate across teams and across business areas in the spirit of an Agile mindset.
- Fulfill the role in the spirit of the Agile Manifesto, with emphasis on delivery of incremental value with frequent iterations and feedback loops.
- Responsible for reporting risks that are identified to the appropriate team and/or management. Additionally, responsible for managing, monitoring and reporting risks within the scope of your work area, to include, but not limited to Information Security risks.

- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems plus 5-8 years' experience in Release Management, Change Management or Project Management.
- 5+ years of working in financial services.
- 5+ years strong project management skills with accountability for end-to-end delivery.
- Strong experience in governing both waterfall as well as Agile/DevOps project lifecycles.
- Strong experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).
- Strong experience with automation tools and strong ability to choose the best tools and solutions for the release management function.
- Advanced knowledge of agile software development lifecycle.
- Advanced knowledge of ITIL standards and best practices.
- Advanced knowledge of DevOps practices.
- Ability to juggle and coordinate schedules and deadlines.
- Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong ability to influence in a matrixed organization.
- Analytical and problem-solving.
